I'm looking to recruit some karters for the Louisiana Karting Challenge. Before the hurricane, we averaged 50 karters a race, and even got as much as 71 at NPR. Now we are lucky to get 15. We don't race at NPR anymnore because the organization can't afford the track fee. We mostly race at Baton Rouge (actually Zachary) and Lafayette. The Baton Rouge track is actually the Join Emergency Services Training Center, where police and ambulance drivers train. It is in great condition, and is a very high-speed course.

So if you have any karts, whether it is an shifter, Briggs, Yamaha, or Tag, come on out and play.

P.S. Bring you Ferraris too :D. A couple of months ago, a 328 showed up and drove a few laps.

Picture attached is of the Baton Rouge track.

Whats the schedule? Since David Courtney isn't in charge and Katrina I haven't heard anything about about karting.

    I have a Rotax TAG.

David Courtney is still heading the organization up. The season is almost over with two race at Moore Park, Lafayette on Oct. 22 and Dec. 10 and one at Baton Rouge on Nov. 19.

    Directions:

JETSC (Baton Rouge)-- 5 miles north of Baton Rouge. Turn off US hwt 61 onto West Irene Road and proceed about 2 miles to track. Address is 1400 West Irene Road, Zachary, LA 70791 if you want to look mapquest it.

Lafayette--1/2 mile north of I-10 off HWY 182. Turn left at Moore Park and proceed past soccer fields.

We haven't had many rotax karts lately, but you could run in the 80cc or Yamaha group if you want.

I haven't seen any of those organizations in LA, at least for karts. The LA karting association has races 2-3 times a month in Baton Rouge and Lafayette. David Courtney organizes everything. His e-mail [email protected]. The last race of the season is in BR on Nov. 19.
