348 top speed

Factory spec top speed-
348TB-275km/h or 170.8mph
348GTB-279km/h or 173.3mph.

Some guys have posted speedo pics on here showing 300km/h-186.4mph.

 

I dont remember if they were modded 348's sorry.
Whack a blower on and knock yourself out.

 

Have gotten to just a tad over 150 mph rpms at 5500 on or about , had to keep eye on the road , top spd was limited due to roof was out also & ran out of room to further accelerate .

Hi,I'm not a pro of the Albrex or Kong style...
A turbo or a blower will only give a significant gain in acceleration,but not really in top speed.
You will need to change the transmission ratio's or simply change the intermediate gear setting(between the clutch and gearbox)
Then you would have a modded 348,with a blower on,maybe some cooling problems,probably sooner or later gearbox problems,and a lot of hassle to go trough....Don't forget to remap the Motronic settings...maybe change pistons to lower compression ratio,try different camshafts and lifts...Re-study all the inlet manifold piping....repace the catalic convertors,the originals will not freeflow the extra air you blow into the engine...I'm not mentionning the amount of money such a mod will cost...and when it comes to resale(and it ALWAYS does sooner or later),buyers will say that it's a pitty the car is modded,"because my mecanic told me to go for a stock one" or somethin' like this...
If you want speed,torque and power,buy a 355,or a 512 TR...and keep your car original....
And ehhh,driving @ 200MPH is not like playing Playstation....

Did some shopping for the kids with the TR today....
Always fun when you show up with a Testarossa on a Wallmart parking and put milk,fruit juice etc in the trunk,between used Ford Escort's and Jetta's...LOL!!!Always use 2 parking places,so I got a little space around the car...it's damn' large...!
BTW lots of (stupid) fellas think your engine is down or broken,when you come home and open the trunk to unload....they all think the engine is in the front....

Haha! Nice! I take my 348 shopping also. I like it when I go to the bottleshop to alcohol. The bring it out, and I open the front bonnet to put it all in. They are walking towards the back of the car. They give you a funny look. Then they ask you about the car. Its fun. Ciao for now mate.

 

FYI, 348 Spider top speed is lower, the book says 170 or 105 with the top up (!) I went 120 with the top up and no problems, but I wouldn't push it. Top down at speed is rather scary. 130 was my limit - ran out of guts.

 

You guys have much bigger kahoohoo's that I do! I have ran my 348 to 110, and that was only once for about 15 seconds. I had a LOT more pedal to go, but backed off. It was a combo of: A) anything that could go wrong at that speed, B) though I have very good tires on the car, C) I was not going to push it and D) getting pulled over! I drove with Darth one night in his 550 at 140+ and that was enough speed for me for a while!

 

Well... sorry to say that I hit 160 /170mph every week...

But hey.. I don't live in the USA

The fastest I saw on the speedo was 285km/h.

110mph? Are you joking? You drive a Ferrari? That's cruising speed here, even my wife does that with her beetle the whole day.

 

I think the 110 mph guy spends far too much time worried. 110 is just getting going! I can't count how many times I've seen 160-170+ in the 348.

But on the other hand, you guys pay sjit prices for the Ferrari's.
Check out the prices we have to pay for nice 328/348/355's in the EU, that will draw your attention.

 

Thats the same in Australia. We pay a premium for Ferrari's. I can move to the US and buy 2 348's for the same money I paid for mine here. Aussie tax on imports is shocking.

When I sold the Audi RS2(quick quick car...)to a guy who lives in Finland,he asked me to "lower" the price on the bill,and to mention "engine broken"...
He wanted me to unplug the Motronic unit,so I won't start...
Why,I asked.
He told me that the import duties are 100%,yes one hundred,of the price of the car...
I sold the car for 9500€,so this dude would have payed his governement 9500 extra€ JUST TO BRING THE CAR INTO THE COUNTRY.....!!!!
That's why he has sooooo happy when I put 4500€ on the bill....
