I'm pretty sure I was going 120 on a real long on ramp when I got pulled over. (close to redlining 4th when I saw the lights behind me.) He didn't have radar and just said 'cool car' and told me to be careful. How 'bout you?

About 18 years ago, 141 in a 55 - driving a Porsche. I-10 East bound, about 20 miles outside of Blythe. This cop had no sense of humor, $2000 ticket, 1 year probation.

I was paced at 100mph plus many years back on a highway where the speed limit was 70 mph. I was in an Audi TT which wasn't a particularly fast car. After I was pulled over the cop asked me if I knew how fast I was going and I told him that I did not. I told him that everyone was going slowly when I got onto I-696 so I accelerated up to pass them. BTW the cop was in an unmarked Camaro. He told me he looked down at his speedometer and he was going over 100mph and I was still pulling away from him rapidly that’s why he turned on the lights right away. He then asked me if I had a clean driving record and I told him that I did. He told me he was going to go back to his car and run my license and registration and he would right back. He came back about 5 minutes later. He started off by telling me that my car was very sharp. He then told me that I have to be careful because my car is engineered so well that you don’t realize how fast you are going. The cop was very cool to me. He never yelled at me or told me how dangerous it was to be going as fast I was. I thought he was going to let me off but he didn’t. He wrote me up for 80mph in a 70mph zone. Just in case I wanted to fight the ticket he wrote that I was paced at 100mph+ in the comments section. To this day that is the only speeding ticket I have ever gotten. I never go that fast anymore. I was very lucky. I just prefer to accelerate quickly :)

Many years ago when I was younger and much stupider, I came off the Bigfork Bridge in the wrong lane passing three semi's at 125, and ran an oncoming deputy sheriff into the ditch on the other side. It cost a lot.

Those are usually the cops that will giver a ticket but a reduced speed. I was with a buddy the other day and we got pulled over by a bike cop for 60 in a 45, and my friend had a bench warrant. The cop asked him about it, and he said he did not know of the warrant, but an unpaid speeding ticket. The cop just told him to take care of it. I've gotten a 60 in a 35 when it was 11 at night, on a 4 lane street thats a long straight before. The cop was a d**k, accusing me of being a "spoiled rich kid on his parents money"

Going south on the 405 in my 1992 Mercedes Benz 500E, 7 am Sunday morning. Had been running around 130-135mph. Look in the rearview mirror and see a CHP unit way, way, way back. Didn't even have his lights on but I knew he was coming for me. I, on the other hand had already lifted because the low fuel lamp had come on. A 500E at triple digit speeds eats fuel like nobodies business.

By the time he pulls up behind me, I have the car pulled well over, the windows down, the engine off, the key in my right hand and both holding the wheel. He actually chuckled and asked me to get out of the car whereupon he told me "good driving". Turns out he had been trying to catch me for a few miles and was impressed with the lane of room I gave the few cars that I passed. Told me to get back in the car. I had passengers who were just dumbfounded I wasn't in cuffs. 5 minutes later he walks up and gives me a 105 because and I quote, "maybe I was catching you, maybe I wasn't. Thanks for pulling over"

Go to court just sweating what this ticket is going to cost. Total? $325 bucks. Sold! Turns out everyone else in front of me had a bigger speed differential and had been on residential streets. Judge just wasn't that interested by the time I got to him.

That's the point. I don't own one, that's why I don't speed. I'm not opposed to the principle, I just think it's relaxing to drive slowly, especially when your car's top speed is in the mid-80s.

Fastest caught was around 120 in a 35. Back country road in the middle of nowhere, straight for miles, etc, etc. SOB was hiding behind a shrubbery.

Asked me why the hell I was going that fast, to which I replied "Trying to make you drop your donut, sir."

Laughed his ass off, told me to slow down and watch for deer. I love cool cops. :)

well... I got pulled over for speeding...but the cop didn't have his radar on, he just made his own judgement that I was speeding...

However, I argued nicely... that I wasn't speeding....

    so he asks me...

"well son, if you weren't speeding... what exactly were you doing???"...

    I answered..

"???...Accelerating...???"....and gave him a cocky smile...

he laughed and let me go...!!!

I was pulled over once at night for 140. He let me off with a warning. That was just after I bought my new turbo and I was trying it out.

I have "a friend" that got pulled over on Lake Shore Drive in Chicago, one Monday morning, around 2:00 AM. This was back in 1997 or 1998. He had gotten in a race with a Ford Thunderbird SC, just north of the Drake Hotel, heading South. The "friend" was driving a Ford Mustang GT. After blasting thru downtown, he went around the corner to head south, past Soldiers Field. Up ahead, "the friend" saw the blue lights come on. Looking down, the speedo was on the north side of 120 MPH. I think the speed limit was 45 MPH. This older cop comes up to the window and asked how fast "he" was going. Wrote him up at 65 MPH in a 45. After paying the extra $20 to go to traffic school, I think the ticket only cost about $140 bucks. Nothing on the insurance.

269km/h with Kawa 1000 in Spain, close to the Sierra de Madrid, 14 years ago or so... that was all the bike could do. Was passing between two cars and they narrowed down and all I could do is aim for the center... and they both hit my mirrors at the same time. Needless to say I was both shocked and impressed, the handle didn't even shake. After a couple of miles I went from shocked to scared, when it hit me what I just got away with. I stopped in a gas station and there comes the cop car, more to check how in hell the bike and myself were in one piece. I guess the white of my face told them that I wasn't going to speed for a while and they let me go. Talk about good bike design, too.
