I have the IBM thinkpad T60 with the 9cell battery. It lasts like 3.5-4 hours. Best computer I have ever owned..

I'm rolling deep with my Acer Aspire 5672. I bought it three months ago for $1000. Core Duo T2300, 2gb RAM, ATI Radeon Video Card, 160gb Hard Drive, 15.4 screen. Very nice system for the money. It's worked flawlessly so far, and it is faster than hell.

when the time came for me to purchase my last laptop, i asked a family friend that is quite 'high up' on the corporate ladder at IBM (he's worked at nearly every computer company at one time or another and was situated at IBM at the time), he said unequivocally that he prefers Fujitsu, so I followed his advice and could not be happier. I have had my lifebook for 1.5 years and it runs as strong today as the day I bought it. I am yet to have a single problem, although I do my best to maintain it. I know that I will never buy a laptop from any other company (I had tried many other manufacturers before Fujitsu)

yes - i realize it is ironic that someone who probably gets IBM computers for free endorsed a competitor's brand, but that only added to the credibility of his advice in my opinion

choice is your's, make it wisely

Actually it's not as uncommon as you think.
I know folks that work at different car manufacturers, and they tell me NOT to buy what they make, I know folks in beer breweries that don't drink their own stuff, I know 2 folks at Dell that won't own one, and a good friend works at Hershey's but hates the stuff.
What's the scariest is when you know someone at an airline that will NEVER fly on their own planes.

Is it possible to add RAM to a Dell XPS notebook at a later date? Or you can not add anything to a laptop once you get it?

It depends on what the BIOS will allow.
I wanted to put a gig in my Vaio, but it won't allow more than 512k.

    Doesn't sound wierd at all.

I've heard Fujitsu is pretty good. Recommended by a friend of a friend who is highly knowledgeable with computers. He also recommended Lenovo though.
