I'm not laughing at the Easton Ahead's. They are expensive and quite a lot of fun to play with. I've owned a pair for years. I finally broke a stick after about 6 years of playing with them. So, I went and bought another pair. :)

It was money well spent for me. Cause I suck and hit the rim alot when I 1st started playing.........I was breaking wooden drumsticks like they were match sticks. :p I should have bought these straight away!!!! I spent over $200 on all types of wood sticks. Kept breaking them after a few weeks or so. I have had these for around 1 year now. They are still kicking hard! :D:D

HAH! I know the feeling. However, there are some serious advantages to wood sticks. They have warmer tone (especially with wood tips). You can also do rim shots with them (something that Easton strongly recommends against with the Ahead sticks), plus the plastic doesn't make a nice "pop" that the wood does when you hit the rim.

I broke my Ahead stick on the side of a cymbal while I was playing at church. Now, granted, the sticks were 5 or 6 years old by that time, but it was the wierdest feeling knowing that I had actually broken an aluminum stick. :D

I've actually gone back to wood sticks, but I keep the Aheads for those "rock out" times. :)

I am getting better. One day when I hardly ever hit the rim, then I will probably go to wood. But I doubt it actually. Im not a pro drummer and the difference in sound im sure is there, but I never noticed it. :p If I ever break these, then I will buy some more. Very happy with them so far. :) Im a guitarist. I bought the drums for fun. :)

I have heard similar somewhere. But not if it is 100% true? :) He changed to Ahead's around the Load Album time, so maybe? :)

Ebay is the best. Here in Australia they would have cost me AU$90 (US$68). I bought some from Ebay America for US$24 with US$6 delievery. Cost me US$30 which is AU$39 and I got them in around 2 weeks. Gotta love Ebay. :)
They sell Ahead sticks all the time on Ebay.

Like Pap said, you can find them for around $30. Your local Guitar Center should have 'em. The rubber gripping is extra, though, and I highly recommend it.

$30 - $35 should be the expected price.
