This video is, of course, on YouTube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AyvrqcxNIFs http://www.nbc4.tv/news/10325914/detail.html University police are investigating an incident late last night in which police took a student into custody at Powell Library. Investigators are reviewing the incident and the officers' actions, and I can assure you that these reviews will be thorough, vigorous and fair. The safety of our campus community is of paramount importance to me. Routinely checking student identification after 11 p.m. at the campus library, which is open 24 hours, is a policy posted in the library that was enacted for the protection of our students. Compliance is critical for the safety and well-being of everyone
here's a news link: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/15731040/ Sometimes, I feel bad for my self that I have to live in this country.
How many times was he asked to stand up. He could have walked out but he resisted. You can here him say, I was going to leave. Well he didnt and this is what happens. If you dont like this country, GTFO
They keep tasering him as he is immobilized on the ground. Clearly abuse. This is horrible to watch. Some of his screams are blood curdling. Absolutely terrifying. If he is staying on the ground and continued to be tasered, they should have lifted him up and escorted him out. Tasers are meant to stop someone from improaching on an officer or running away. Police did a horrible job on trying to control everyone as well.
Hopefully he will get a good lawyer and wash out the abusive cops bank account. It shouldn't require that much effort. Good luck to the poor guy.
taser= not fun. It feels like your bones are going to explode. The only good part of it all is that when its done, it doesnt hurt anymore. Other than that, not fun at all.
I haven't been tasered, but I was shocked with a stun gun and lemme tell you it Fs you up good. But the way we was saying "let go of me" and asking not to be touched, but not complying, got him the taser. Because the UCP don't want to touch him in case he hurts them (or himself). He shouldn't have resisted, he should have just left... but after the 2nd or 3rd tasering the cops should have just picked him up and tossed him outside. One other thing that bothers me is that he says he has a medical condition I know it's hypotheical and all, but it's clearly documented on the camera and there are at least half a dozen witnesses. What if he actually had some medical problem and died on the scene? Also, if you have a pacemaker would you die if you got tasered/stunned?
The video will provide some good information as to what happened. I wish it actually showed the people involved. I'm still wondering why this student would resist. It seems like a good policy to check IDs for the safety of the students. While I can understand the feelings of those students that witnessed it, I think the fact that this student doesn't comply with the officers requests requires them to make him comply. They didn't use their fists, clubs, etc... they used a taser and told him it was going to happen if he didn't comply. I'm not sure why they hit him three times as just carrying him out might have worked better and shown restrant. I'm not sure if he was not standing up after being tasered because of the effect of the taser or he just didn't want to comply. Never the less, I think the policy of checking the library is in the best interest of the students. I think this person was given every opportunity to comply. Unfortunatley, it looks like the pressure of the situation clouded the reasoning of the officers.
I know, its an x-26 if im not mistaken. The older version of the x-29. The main difference in the two is that the 29 had a light and a lazer so that the probes are shot in to a better area. Also the 29 is smaller and you can dry stun with them by removing the block on the front. I know the difference between a gun and a tazer
Your other post would indicate otherwise. How long did it take you on google to find that info. so you didn't look as stupid?
We don't know what the guy was doing in the first place to warrant such action. If he was threatening others and resisting arrest, then the police had the right to tazer him enough to get the cuffs on. After that, what they should have done was keep the guy down and called for more cops to come in and simply carry the dude out to their car. For whatever his reason was, it looks as though this guy was martyring himself, even though he said he would leave. Why those cops would do that in front of a room full of highly opinionated college students is another question... Abuse? Ego? Stupidity? Time for a leave of absence for those two....
Then pay more attention when looking at my post next time. I did not say to take guns away from pigs, just tasers.
what i was getting at in my other post is that people think cops shouldnt have any of the tools they have and will be just fine without them. Or even worse people think all cops are useless.
Not all cops. There is a big difference between a cop and a pig. A cop is someone who follows the laws he enforces and leads by example. He became a cop to benefit society. A pig is someone who thinks he is above the law he enforces. He joined because he couldn't get into college and wanted to have some authority to make himself feel big. I would say it is probably a 40/60 cop to pig ratio.
for once i agree with you. There were a bunch of people who I went through training with who were in it because the got picked on in highschool and wanted to be "in charge" then there were the people who wanted to do something for the world and help out.
Guys keep in mind, that if you actually read the article the poor student was leaving the building. At the door, the officer grabbed his hand and started giving him trouble as the student was leaving. That's why they are so close to the library door, because the poor dude was leaving by himself after his first notice. At the end, he'll receive a beautiful 5million dollar check, and those cops will get fired. It's funny because that student will come out of college making tipple of what both of those cops make together annually. Specially coming out of UCLA
Id say there are more good cops then bad cops. The good ones get a bad rep because of the bad ones. Its the media who messes this up because yo never hear about a good cop untill one dies. All you hear is the bad.
