Perfect! That only means that we have to agree on the arrival date in S. Gimignano. So let's say that we all arive in S. Gimignano on sunday the 24th and all depart on saturday the 30st. If we book that we have 90% of the trip secured. The other two nights (23/24 and 30/1) are open for discussion.

Does this sound like a solid plan?

    WAIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!¨

    Steak night is SATURDAY NIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My plan was to travel on saturday 23, so that we could all be there for the evening steak.

Those who want to drive with the "fast boys" would meet in Austria on friday evening (hotel TBD - Patrick, any advice?), then leave early in the morning on saturday to enjoy the Alpine passes, the Futa and all that.

Guys, if we all agree on June 23 - June 30, I will call them and arrange it. Ton, please send them a correction e-mail. We NEED to include the saturday!

Also, I'd like to know who wants to join us in The Drive - on friday June 22 we'll meet in Austria, and early in the morning we'll drive down across the mountains into Italy; then we'll take the incredible Mendola pass (Patrick knows... :D ) and drive on beautiful roads leading to my "home valley", where we'll have lunch in a restaurant I know well. After that we'll join the motorway and head down towards Modena. At that point we can either do the Futa/Raticosa or alternatively we can do the Maranello-Serramazzoni-Abetone-Pistoia road, an old Ferrari testing course which is amazing and totally free of traffic. Simon knows it, we drove it in a Maserati Gransport two years ago :). Once we reach Pistoia we'll be only 45 minutes away from S.Gimignano and our steak!!

Now, who wants to join us? Warning: this is for serious drivers only :D

I am with you on the dates but will go with the majority as it's easy for me to be flexible. I think Katy and I will join you at the Futa or Maranello on Saturday 23rd . I know the Abetone road!, I did it in my 328 in 1998 from Maranello all the way to Pisa :)

I should say I need to get the OK for the passes drive from Katy! :) if she says no then we'll join you at the Fattoria and aim to get there 1/2 ahead so we can have hte cold beers lined up at the Pool :D

I agree that driving that first part together is a big part of the fun. But I am not sure that I am a serious driver. I would probably have the feeling that I spend the whole day chasing you (without a chance by the way because you are a lot faster). For me that is not very relaxing.
Leaving on friday might also be a problem for me. Maybe Veerle and I can leave on friday after work and drive a few hundred km's into Germany. That will save us some time on saturday. I will discuss this tonight.
We also have to ask M&M about this. I remember that last year they did not cross the channel on friday because Mike had to work till friday evening.

    Thanks Simon! :)
Still friday might be a bit of a problem. I'd rather arrive in the fattoria on sunday and leave on the next sunday. In that case we can have our steak night as a part of our last evening.
But this is a democratic world. Let the majority decide. :)

Ah I thought we were talking about leaving the following Saturday, if it's Sunday to Sunday then we can still have Steaks as our final 'gala' night together

I am trying to find a solution. :)
Veerle and I are talking about also taking the second week off (Orta?). So in that case it will be not a problem if we leave on sunday. But that might be a problem for a few others. M&M?

btw I just had a good long conversation with Wolfgang. Unfortunately he and Anja will not be joining us this time due to other plans.

OK Guys, let's do it sunday to sunday. Either way, those coming from northern Europe will have to lose one extra working day, on the way back. I suggest we meet in a hotel in Austria on saturday 23. Driving on sunday should be fantastic (no traffic, no trucks) as long as we leave early (9AM engines running).

On the way back (July 1), whoever wants to join us for dinner at U'Giancu and a relaxed day by the sea is welcome. I have space for two in my house next to the restaurant, already booked by Simon&Silke.

I have a better idea... you drive off at 8:30AM. Patrick and I will wake up later and drive off at 9:30AM. I reckon we'll catch you before lunch :D

I have a good friend from Germany who might come with a Lotus Exige S. His family used to own F40, F50 and F512M, so he knows how to drive... :)

He'll let me know by January. If we can get all 10 rooms he could just squeeze in.
