It is, however, i dont object if any good ideas come from this that might benefit the whole forum.

The look of Ferrarichat needs update, to my eyes it has almost a very Retro feel to it, needs to be a bit more cutting edge and modern looking IMO. I would think there is an issue with changing ONLY the UK section, I should imagine any changes would have to be adopted across the board??

No tone, wasn't my handy work, just thought others should see what can be done that was all. I'll leave it for now got a busy day ahead of me.

I do understand the constraints also btw with Rob who owns the site..

obviously I have been using the forum for a good few days now, but I am struggling to see the difference in the content posted in the backroom and the opening screen. As such I think the style of the site does not actively encourage posting. I really do think perhaps three sub sections, Backroom banter, Ferrari related and events would work well on the UK start up screen, as would a new look (and some more smilies;)), and discourage hi jacking and inappropriate threads. In some respects, the old way, with all the threads on the start up page was more user friendly, but normally it meant a deterioration into anarchy and poorly organized chaos.

thats my 2p for the day...:D

Am struggling also, the guidelines for posting are non existent. Definately room for more improvement. Personally all i want to see is a forum that creates plenty of quality interaction, with a good mix of ferrari and OT
    topics.

Do quite like the idea of this 'hidden' workshop. There are so many things this room can be used for - ie planning of anything prior to forum launch, etc.

hmm..yes but by public consensus, IMO CS is miles too fussy, too many sections (sorry Sy!) and I think simplicity is the key to encouraging people to post, that and welcoming new users, CS is VERY good at that, Fchat used to be extremely intimidating, cant comment now coz I aint a new user....

i'd agree with you Adam. Simplicity is the key here and its good the way it is, possibly just a slight rearrangement of the threads would do imo.

Not many new users stuck around. Many would pop up here for a couple of weeks and then migrate to CS. A number did stick around but they weren't the 10 posts a day crowd but would stick their heads up now and then.

    ah, right.

Off on a tangent here, does anyone else think the who smilies thing on here needs updating. They can say such alot on their own and often diffuse arguements and help with posts being mis understood.

Is it worth a thread in the main section with a poll do we think???

also appearance wise, the look is a little dated as I said before, might be an idea to review the smilies and refresh the look of the site??

    This is version 3.6.2

The latest version avaialble is just one ahead at 3.6.3.

Also, changing teh front page of the UK section is very easy to do. However, by doing so, then other sections may want to change their front pages as well and then it can become an administrative headache.

I think there may be some mileage in some different sections in time, but at the moment I feel we are not quite busy enough and if we were to create different sections it would "dilute" Fchat UK and make it quiet once more, which non of us want.
