    from a cop friend.

    Ask, Tell, Make.

Only in this case I heard, Ask, tell, tell, tell, tell, tell, make. They were giving him ample warning.

College police are sworn police officers. This is not a City police incident.

Remember when Jeff Garcia (old 49'ers QB) was pulled over for DUI, it was by a San Jose State Police officer. San Jose Police had nothing to do with the arrest.

Stop talking out your ass Scott.

It's hard for me not to judge this one... That kid would not stand up! Did I hear the cop say "all we want is for you to standup?"

Reminds me to teach my kids respect.

Like I heard a comedian say: "I do not understand parents that insist in beating their kids, when psychological damage is so much more permanent."

My uncle is a Florida Highway Patrolman and we're very close..in his words " Tasers are not for punishment ..they are for defending yourself against against possible violence'

The kid posed no threat..sure he was wrong and obnoxious..but not a threat. Just drag him down the hall to the cop car if need be...but dont freakin keep tasering him.

I respect cops but these dudes are wrong and need to be reprimanded.

The guy was cuffed and no longer posing a threat to them. Given the situation, the action the cops should have taken was to err to the side of caution by calling in to get an official order from the Captain. Then (most likely) waited for 3 or 4 more guys to come up there and just carried the guy out to their cruiser.

    End of incident.

    True.

BUT, did the size of the crowd add to the perceived threat?

My guess is you have lived your life NEVER needing to call the police for ANYTHING, right ?

Granted, some are bad, but don't characterize them all the same way.

a cop tells you to move, you move or suffer the consequences, period. call your lawyer later, but you move and if the cops says NOW, he means right NOW.

Also when the Guy's lawyer says write the 5million dollar check now, that means NOW!!! You can't tazer a guy 1 time when he is leaving by his own, now doing it 6 times. 6 times of 50,000 Volts!! That could do some serious damage.

I says eye for eye, 6 times of Tazer + Mad money + they get fired + someone write a letter to the prison mates and tell them about this and show the video to them. Then Justice will be served.

When the police are called they are going to ask questions, make requests, and if you don't comply, they're going to use whatever force is necessary. They are using the powers we have entitled them to use when faced with such situations. Was it necessary to zap him? From the loud comments made by the student, it appears he was not complying with their orders.

its not the volts that will kill you. lol, I agree with you FarmerDave, we're heading that way. Again, we don't know the facts Ms, maybe he finally decided to leave once he escalated the use of force continuum. Use of force shouldn't waiver, he brought the cops to the point of impact weapons/mechanical force. Do you realize that a police officer, in order to carry a taser, must be "shot" with one??? These officers are aware of the force they've brought on, know the pain, and know the results. The taser incompasitated the individual to help the officers get the 1 up they needed. You don't meet force on the same level. You go one above. They aren't going to sit there all day and have a pissing match with this clown.

Here's some examples of this so called deadly weapon:
    http://www.personal-selfdefense-online.com/taser-video_center.htm
Look at the vid of the bull:
    http://www.personalarms.com/taser_video.htm

Now imagine if Officer's didn't have this tool to use....How many would have gone to use deadly force or worse, not enough force and possibly losing their lives or seriously injured???

BTW, the weird moaning sound you hear when some of these folks get tasered, it's them exhaling the remaining air in their lungs. Kind of embarassing in training. Exhale before you get shot, lol.
