    Hi! Thanks! Glad you like the photos. That 10.5mm looks like fun. Might have to put that on the "must have "list!

    Located just south of the Windy Hill parking lot and North of the Russian Ridge hiking area.
    It is more direct to take 280 up to 84 and head West up to skyline to get there, but probbaly not as much fun.

    In a nutshell,
    "Casual use activities which normally involve noncommercial still photography or recreational videotaping would not require a permit or fees. Casual use means noncommercial activities occurring on an occasional or irregular basis that ordinarily result in little or no impact to public lands, resources, or improvements.

    Still Photography

    Most professional and amateur photographers are allowed to take still photographs on public lands without a permit or the payment of any fees. Public land visitors and recreational, professional and amateur photographers do NOT need a permit to take still photographs unless the still photography will:

    Use models, sets or props that are not part of the site’s natural or cultural resources or administrative facilities;
    Take place where members of the public are generally not allowed; or
    Take place at a location where additional administrative costs are likely."

    I like your profile pic with the blue CS on Skyline, very nice use of contrasts and has that "old world" feel to it.

    He could have cited u for no front plate instead. I wish there were cops around. They do dis-service to public IMO.

    Different cities have different ordinances. I own a couple of businesses here in the Sacramento area and have found different cities having completely different laws and fee structures for different permits. One town may have a lot of scenic views and may want to capitalize off of that and require a permit for shooting. Look into it. It may be the case here. Ridiculous it is, but thats politics.

    Find the address of the officer's agency. Write them about the visit you had from the officer, and demand that they do two things: 1. Provide additional training for the moron, and 2. Place a copy of your letter in his personnel file.

    You'll get the quickest response you've ever seen from them. The complaint will follow this turd for as long as he's in law enforcement, and perhaps teach the moron a lesson about the "protect and serve" moto of most police.
