Hi team, Found this 348 which shows service history in cafax but recently failed emissions. I was considering offering them 35k and putting half down. Is this reasonable price or problems will arrise? I am going to take a look at it tommorow. It looks like a gamble to me, but it might work out if u have enuff reserves to fix stuff like a belt change and clutch. Drive it and see how it feels. There are some niggling issues with the early 348's so check out the forums here to be forearmed. After u drive it get a PPI so u know what u r looking at. My hunch is that the motorized mouse seat belts aren't working - just a hunch - so that is no biggie unless u want to fix them. Ferrari MIGHT do it for u gratis. What's in the front boot? Looks like the rear deck lid was painted - I thought the area by the glass is supposed to be jet black. Mileage kind of high (for me) so check into clutch and brake replacements. Could be a sleeper purchase; maybe a fright pig.
This is the cheapest price I have seen for a 348, especially through a dealer. The lowest price I have seen was $42,000 for a Targa topped car and it had a couple issues. Whats the catch?
And no engine pics. That is the cheapest I've seen. Since it is a dealer, they are probably wholesaling it out. Which means there is alot of work that needs to be put into the car. The dealership wont make any money off it. Definately PPI. Good luck.
Buy the BEST car not the BEST deal.... Its too cheap...if it was a really good car the seller would not let it go this cheap.... Nothing worse than a BAD experience with something you want to do for pleasure....IME (in my experience)
Sorry, I started this reply without reading your profile...don't know if you are a current/past/would-be owner.... If you are a DIY'er buy the cheapest yet most solid car you can find (knowing full well what is wrong with it). Do all the serivce/updates/etc that it needs under your ownership so you know it's done and it's done right. If you are an buyer who is just lookign for a good price and will have to rely on someone else to fix it or keep it up to date, you'll probably spend a lot of $ getting the car right. As such, buy the best car you can find with bullet-proof service history....I mean Superman bullet proof history. There have been many stories here on guys who have bought cars with supposed solid history and have had to spend twice the purchase price to get the car right. Either get a bullet proof car and pay the premium or get a bargin that you needs work and get it done under your watchfull eye. Anythig else in the "middle" is a gamble...do you feel lucky? I think buying any Ferrari is a bit of a crapshoot really. I see post on here all the time about well maintained and recently serviced cars having all kinds of unexpected and expensive repair issues. Furthermore the maintainance itself is as expensive as major repairs sometimes. You know if you pay for the bulletproof/ fully maintianed/documented car your paying top dollar for it and still run the risk of uncovering expensive problems soon after purchase. This car may be worth taking some calculated risk with. You know without documentation about belts/ major service you'd be crazy not to get that done along with a PPI and a leakdown too but the other things can be done as the issues arise or not arise. Who knows what this car may look or drive like when you see it in person but the possibility exist though of getting this car for 35k and just because it seems underpriced doesn't mean it's gonna need repairs that are gonna total more than the price of a fully documented and maintained car .
