F1 vs 6spd is pure preference. I like them both and hate them both, basically if I got either one I could care less, I like them both EXACTLY the same. Both are fun to drive.

The 99 355 gives you better odds regarding valve guide issues. As Vern stated, do the headers now if they are still OE. This is the trend at my shop now. If they are OE and the engine is out for service (if budget allows) they get Tubi headers. It is now proven hard fact the headers will fail, its only a question of when.
We have discussed the F1 vs 6 sd. Arguements can be made regarding the costs / reliabilty but I have found no data to support the horror stories about the F1. There is a big difference between just bolting one (F1) together and properly setting one up, properly bleeding the system, centering the actuator, relearning the software........ Properly done they are reliable, smooth and enjoyable.
I believe the rest of the answers are purely subjective in nature.
My next car will be a 95 (I want the extra power) 355 GTS or B (I too like the lines and the tightness of the B), F1 (by the end of the day I am tired of shifting the cars and enjoy the hands on the steering wheel in the mountains), in a blue, black or Rosso Fiorano color with the natural interior (30 yrs of red and tan all day long makes me appriciate these colors). Mine will have Tubi headers, Hyper-Flow Cats (simply because I believe these are the best products available) and any muffler that doesnt make it sound like a Lexus. Mine will wear 355 Challange wheels (looks alone) painted in a new Silver (Tim, my body guy, came up with a much richer/ deeper shade of silver) that we did on Khanh's 348 with 355 wheels and it is outstanding.

I think that about covers it and reasons for my choices. That said, everyone that knows me knows who makes the choices in this family (NO its not Niki). I sure hope Kris agrees with my choices, I may have to put my foot down on this one.

No, because I change my mind every other day. One day I think 6spd is better, the next I like F1 more. But in the end the truth is I like them both exactly the same.

 

Hey Dave you need to drive my, civilized somewhat for the street, 355C it is more fun than I think I'm supposed to have. At least IMO much better than the road car version. Oh.. by the way how are you going to find a '95 F1? Regards, Vern

Fully agree. The Challange suspension is a wonderful change. I was surprised how much better even a street car with the Challange A arm bushings felt.

95 F1, yep, sure wish!

I have a set of 95C heads that I have been working with that I will be using on a later car when I get one. I am not convinced the extra power was all in the Motronic. My camshaft development guy laughed at me when I said I wanted him to tweek them a little. I will have to do it all with cam timing instead.
