It is quite clear that it was a very early car; only 5149 had been seen on race track by this time. It is, however, very hard to get any further than this: Scuderia Ferrari may very well have been testing any of the early cars. My main suspect has always been 5845 - but it doesn't make much difference as there doesn't seem to be any proof. Best wishes, Kare

There is also a beautiful photo of the car that's long held my imagination, on page 118 of Mike Shoen's Cobra-Ferrari Wars 1963-1965 (I recommend to everyone), I can't attach - as I don't own.

    Regards

    Great photo.

Another bulletin board has brought to my attention an online publishing house that will publish photobooks. I would like to produce one but am having trouble coming up with a central theme or ideas for subject matter.
    Any suggestions?

In the late 80's Dalton Watson announced plans to publish a title called "Ferrari in North-America 1948-88 - 40 Years of Racing"... or something like that. Nothing ever came of it. You'd be well placed to do something similar now.

Hap Sharps 250 TR 0776 and the Reed/Sturgis 250 TR 0770 which also ran in the same Le Mans the previous year. Can also see the Masten/Casner Camoradi Tipo 63 just poking out there too. I love those Tipo 63's. What a shape.

Thank you Jurgen. I know 2015 very well. I rebuilt the motor in 1993 and performed routine maintenance on it for years.
What I did not know was that it had raced in the States. At LeMans in 1960 it was raced by two frenchman and I assumed the car remained in France long after that. The car is in my opinion the most historic California Spyder there is. The engine is all out SEFAC hot rod spec while the body is all alloy with an outside filler cap. A Great car.

    Hi David,

2015GT spent its entire life here in the USA, at least in terms of ownership, as far as I know. After Sebring 1961 it raced at Nassau, while in the ownership of Allen Newman. There were probably a few owners following Newman, but the car eventually ended up with the Gelles brothers for a few years in the mid 1970s before being acquired by its current long time owner.

Great information and picture of 2015GT, guys.

It's definitely one of my all time favorite Ferraris.

Wow! 1700 posts to this thread. I never thought we could contend with the Bikini thread!
Gil, Here is the best close up I have from Sebring 1961. Also a photo from 1993 in Ft. Lauderdale with a very fresh rebuild and then painted red. Thanks to Mr. P. We did some good work together.
