Do 348 owners aspire to have a 355?

  1. Yes - I wish I had a 355 instead of a 348

  2. No - Not that interested in a 355, I'm happy with my 348.

  3. I don't care...I have a 360

The 348's a keeper, although my wife voted for a 355 or 360 over the 348 when I was shopping.

355's just too soft and complicated :) I work with computers all day, I don't want any more than needed in my sports car.

maybe a 288GTO is an upgrade, or as PeterS is doing, a 308, or the 246 (too scary to source parts for a frequently driven 246 imo though).

I agree. I guess its all in the size of the steps you want to take. While a 355 is a step up albiet a small step.A 360 is clearly a big step up in performance and price.Probably well worth it

It was still being built at the time of taking. Its one of 3 120ft gararges on the bosses vast estate. He has alot of cars and that particular gararge war built for the 1920s Bentley blower and two more vintage cars. Hey there is even an Hellycopter hanger on site:)

IF I had purchased a 355 I am sure I would be very happy with it. It does not seem to have that much difference to me to warrant the hassle of finding the new car / selling the 348. So I am happy to stay with the 348 for now.

So, is you start with a 328 gts, like me, you could skip the 348 and by a 355 rightaway?
    so: 308 -> 348?, but 328 -> 355 ? :). Prices in Holland are now:
    328= 100%, than 348 = x 1.28 app, and 355 is 1.44 app towards the 348.

Sure, I'd love to have a 355 in ADDITION to my 348. But I would not use the phrase "aspire to". Both are beautiful, and both are fast enough for my needs, and neither are commonplace outside this forum.

If I did get a 355, my wife would use the power steering "card" and I would end up driving the 348 anyway. But I could look at them both in the garage.

Another question: as a 348tb owner, do I aspire to own a 348ts, spider, GTB or GTS? No, I'm happy with my choice within the model range.

Variations & evolutions of a model are inevitible, and each new incarnation has it's merits.

For my personal tastes, the 355 is the newest Ferrari I would pursue. Not interested in acquiring at 360 or 430. I truly appreciate the cars for their performance & refinement, but not so keen on the styling. Perhaps my tastes haven't evolved that far yet.

Major pitfall - as pointed out earlier in this post, Canadian 355 prices are artificially high, as they currently cannot be imported.

So what do I aspire to? A second ferrari. Maybe a 308QV, a 328... or a 308GT4 - gee, wouldn't that be fun. Or another 348, maybe in a different colour this time.

    Not at all.

I was looking at buying the 348(for looks) or the 360(for performance) that was my budget. The 355 looks to much like barbie's car to me. It really came down to looks, Ive got a toyota that would kill most ferrari's in a straight line and my idea was one day turbo the 348 or something.

I love the cheese grill on the sides to much!

    An "enlightened" opinion!!! :D :D

Yes, skipping the 348 to the 355 makes great sense. Just think 375bhp for the 355 in original configuration!! You also automatically get 355 wheels!!! :D :D

Even barbie knows what is cool!! She's hot :p

I think the name "cheese" grates is fitting :p

My own personal reason for considering a 355 would be because of the F-1 Shifter Option. Other than that, I’m content with my 348.

There both great looking cars, as a matter of fact, there almost identical looking cars, as evident by the amount of fully interchangeable body parts.

There are things I like about the 355 Trim, and things I like about the 348 Trim. It’s kind of a personal preference thing. I honestly like both cars.

But for you 348 guys out there. If you haven’t seen your car drive away from you at night, (like when the valet drives off to park your car) you really haven’t truly experienced the striking look of the stock 348 tail lights. The look is simply amazing, and you have to see it to believe it. I was going to upgrade my taillights to the 355 type, and it changed my mind.

Mistake. Big mistake. The 355 F1 is agricultural. You will long for your old 348 5 speed

355 is a big step up in performance. 355 is the first generation electronic car and as such is inferior to it's successor the 360. 348 is the last non-electronic car and that is reason alone to love it. I have had several 355's but I have kept my 348

That is correct, I've heard and read it everywhere.
The 355F1 is a NO !! The F1-pump is a disaster and there is no upgrade.

First in the 360 the F1 became non-problematic.
(As from 2002 on... perfect.. although it sucks clutches)

Not my experience. The 360 was better but still far from perfect. The 599 is the first F1 that is truly impressive. Before the 599, I thought that the VW Golf GTi DSG was the best. I rated the VW better than the 430 - even my 430 Challenge

I was looking at a 348 awhile back and they look nice but much less modern than a 355, the car looks smaller also the big difference is the size of the wheels and the lack of a built in spoiler in the rear quarter panels and linear lines of the lights and cheese graters. The 355 is still quite modern looking IMO and others that make comments about the car

Performance difference is quite significant a second and a half to 0-60 difference in a 355 is several car lengths, the ground effects of the 355 make it very stable at high speed as well vs the 348, with the 355s redesign suchg as lower trans with an oil cooler and stiffer chassis along with its big power its very easy to throttle steer the car which is unique to the 355

When the 355 came out it was so popular it affected sales of the 512M showing you could have supercar performance without the weight, 355s are truly a light sports car and setting a new performance standard for the Ferrari V8s.

I can see how both cars are similar in some aspects that 348 owners would want something totally different for the next car, my BB is a good example in how its very different from the 355 and much more raw and demanding to drive.
