I am having more issues with my Mondial. The other day I was driving and the throttle stuck at 4,500.00 rpm....when I was in 1st gear! The back end spun out right in front of on coming car...very unhappy motorist. Although highly entertaining to see the Mondial burn out....not good timing.

I have adjusted my floormat and made sure this is not the problem. The car now does it all the time and I have not driven it in over a week. I would like to know where to find out how to adjust and/or lubricate the throttle cable...Would this be the answer? I do not want this to happen and recently the throttle has become very hard to compress.

I also would like to replace the battery, any recommends of a good battery?
Sparkplug wires are getting old, where do I get the best replacement wires?
I would also like to know what everyone recommends for the best spark plugs?

    Please help

My 1969 Corvette 427 broke throttle return springs twice -- both times with the same friend of mine driving. (Once at an intersection, and a cop pulled him over for "display of speed" when the car roasted the tires for half a block until he could get the pedal off the floor...he actually had to pop the hood and show the cop the spring broke!!!)

As for your Mondial, my 328 has already had its throttle cable replaced. It's a somewhat common problem. You can try lubricating at each end, but chances are it simply is old enough to need replacing outright. The strands are probably just coming apart and binding.

For safety sake, just think about replacing it. It's cheap insurance, and any competent mechanic can do it.

Agreed, I had similar problems a couple of years ago, tried lubricating both ends but in the end replaced, no problems since.

Battery, I guess any well known make will do, make sure the cranking amperage is up to the the mark though, some similar sized batteries are down on power.

Sorry forgot... as for spark plug wires, if you want to go for original look, check out the 308/328/Mondial forum for the sticky post showing where to get parts. Ricambi America, TRutlands both come to mind at the moment.

For plugs, any brand that cross-references OEM will do. Plugs are like beer -- it all depends on taste, but get 8 of in and the result is always about the same ;)

I agree with sammyb. Try to lube the cable at both ends, but chances are the cable may be frayed internally and needs to be replaced.
NGK sparkplugs are the best IMO. Also Nippon Denso are good too. Do not use Champion spark plugs. Save them for your lawn mower. :p
Get a battery that is similar size or smaller, but make sure it has the same or better CCA rating. :)
