Idiots want u to call for a price inquiry. I guess they want to see if they can tell how much u can afford by how u talk. Extremely rare it says. So does that mean extremely expensive too? In fact it looks as though descriptive info about this car is extrememly rare as well. Some people just do not know how to sell anything.
Maybe this is a 1994 SS II car. There were 2 runs of Series Speciales for 1993 and 1994. The 100 cars (71 really) were 1993 models. There were 14-15 1994 models, I believe. I know they say this is 1 of 100 for 1993, but it might be a 1994 car and those were different than the earlier SS cars. That might explain the seats. And how come there is no badging on the rear deck? I am suspicious... Doc, correct me if I'm wrong here, but haven't we discussed the whole SS line before?
Hmm....didn't notice the seats - nice catch. Didn't even know about the spoiler, so another "+" there as well! As for the "extremely rare" bit - UGH. It probably does mean "extremely expensive." One need not mention how extremely white it is, though, or should I say how extremely not red. While the interior is still tan, I don't believe "rare" = "worth more" in all cases, this CERTAINLY being one of them. If I were to buy this car, I'd have to find another guy as fanatical about white on a Ferrari as I am, and have that guy ALSO be in the hunt for a 348 - preferably an SS. What are the odds of that? I don't know for sure, but I can bet they're not that good.
I'm not sure where you got 71 cars, I have a list showing 84 cars with their numbers ##/100 and their serial numbers. My last number on that list is 94/100. FNA's brochure on the car states there are 100 cars so I'm assuming my list is missing 16 cars. These numbers are not for any of the few '94s that were produced. Why would this be a '94 car if it is 36 of the 100(it is on my list) it's serial number is 94453 which puts it in the '93 production time zone(build date plates on the '93 models actually show almost all of the cars built in '92 no. 89 was built in Oct. '92). '94 cars (348's that were not spiders) that came to the US were the last of the production run and were in the 98xxx to 99xxx serial no. range. The seats could be retro fitted by the dealer, all of the 100 cars in the original run were fitted with the carbon seats, some of the original owners had them changed. The '94 cars did not have the seats or the frt spoiler from what I have seen. The only *major* distigushing part on these cars was the SS tail light treatment. There was no rear badging on any of the SS cars. Regards, Vern
Vern, I recently bought a 1994 348ts Speciale out of California. It is S/N 98696 with a Feb. 1994 build date on the door plate, red over tan. It has the standard seats and no lip spoiler (as I understand was the case with all 15 of the 1994 Speciales. Is mine on your list? If so, does your list show where it is in the sequence of the last 15 cars. Thanks, Lance Cole p.s. I am also the previous owner of DrT348's black 348 Challenge car.
Vern is right. It's a '93 car #36/100. Should have the front spoiler. The seats were an option delete. Another words you could order with regular seats. The fiberglass seats can sometimes delaminate. I understand they are quite uncomfortable as well. So maybe changed, maybe not. Lance, let's see pictures! Do you not have a plate on the right front door sil like the ch car. I only have '93 s/n for SS and the last was 95991 #98/100. Feb '94 build date was late in production, because mid year '94 Ferrari was producing 355. Richard
Hi Lance, I did most of my research on the '93 cars when I owned mine so I only have a few of the 15 '94 SS cars' #s. Yours should be without the seats and the lip, from what I have seen non of the '94 cars did not come with these as you said. Your build date seems right with your car. Do you have the RH door plate that states what car yours is? All of the '93 SSs and '94 Challenge cars had a plate that stated what car # it was. Regards, Vern Sorry for the duplicate post, Richard was posting as I was typing.
Richard, From what I have dug up on those seats they were not an option with the factorythey were all built with the carbon seats, the dealer would change them out. My window sticker lists them as std equipment and so does the brochure. The cars that I saw on dealer showrooms (which was only about 10 cars) had the seats in them. Do you have a sourse for that info. Not that it's any big deal it would be nice to know the correct info on that. Regards, Vern
Hi, Go on just buy it, don`t worry about selling it later on. Join the very exclusive branch of the Brotherhood (white 348`s) only me here in the UK!! Regards, Phil.
The color-matched lower trim makes all the difference on the 348, especially in lighter colors light white, yellow or silver.

I don't have a source other than here. I thought like the challenge kit that came with the '94 348's you could option out and get a credit. I read somewhere you could do the same option delete and order an SS without seats? Otherwise I believe it would come as standard equip. Not all challenge cars had plates on the right door frame. My understanding is it was an after thought. That's why the #'s do not numerically match the order of the s/n. Another words #10 of 32's s/n is 98498 and # 6 of 32's s/n is 98578. I don't want to get to far off the original Thread. White does not photo well, but it always looks better in person. Richard
All the '94 challenge cars I've seen (again only 5) had the plate(car # plate). I had heard also that not all came with them. Something interesting about the factory 355CH cars is that some one some where removed the ID plate(not the one discussed above) that comes on all US cars, on newer Ferraris it is attached to the LH door pillar, the one that states that this car meets all the rules for the year produced. I have only seen one car (it was never raced in the series)that still had the plate in its place. Richard, your car was raced do you still have your plate on the door pilar? Regards, Vern
Vern, Yes mine still has the plate #4 of 32 tb on the right door frame. I have the regular ID plate on the left front door frame. There was supposed to be a sticker on the cars that were raced that said they were no longer street legal. That has been removed. Maybe on the 355CH the dealer removed them to indicate they were not street legal? Maybe weight reduction? jk! Richard
The only sticker I recall was a tiny yellow one glued to the rollcage. I can't quote verbatim off the top of my head, but it basically said that once converted the cars were never again to be driven on the street. Now that's a different question from whether you could manage to get the car tagged in your State (they all had titles, so in lax States . . .).
Ira, does your's have the sticker or do you have a picture. My car has been titled in FL, CA, PA, and now IL since it was raced. So no problem with titling a 348 CH car.
edit: after I read your post again Richard I see you were not asking if they can be titled you were clarifying that they can be. Not to answer a question I was not asked so excuse me for jumping in here. All of the 348CH cars had titles to them and could be registered but, after they were raced Ferrari discourageed it probably mostly for safety reason and liability. Really there shouldn't be any reason you could not drive one on the street if it was put back to road car specs which is fairly easy to do(as you know already). My 355C on the other hand had a lot of modifacations done to it in the factory that make it not US street legal ie; OBD1 engine management system in a '97, open upper exhaust( no cats), no air bags and incorrect seat belts for US laws, the list goes on these cars came into the country as bill of sale only.
