Ton, I have heard this explanation before but I don't have a clear vision of what this means. Can you offer up a short explanation?

CONGRATULATIONS Mark!!! Great looking car. Seems like our Tuscany trip is destined to be dedicated almost only to 12-cylinders...

Marc, you prefer the weak boxer-12 power to the massive monumental power of the black V12 you experienced last summer? :D

Wow congratulations Marc. I'm very envious. I so nearly bought a 512TR last summer but backed out at the last minute, kept my 328 and bought the SZ instead.

And don't listen to Andrea. He test drove 3 TR's with me and said they were as fast as his 550 ;)

decisions, decisions. What would you do? Anyone have any experience of the Rumore system? I don't think my car has got cats, need to check.

    __________
We have two options for your Ferrari 512TR.

    1. Tubi Style Exhaust System
    2. Tubi Style Sport Pack

The Tubi exhaust system alone (option 1) is absolutely awesome. It sounds wonderful, gives around 14hp, runs cooler, looks better, reduces weight and is fully stainless steel. Fitment is bolt-on, bolt-off.

The sport pack (option 2) consists of 2 cat-replacement pipes and the exhaust system. Basically, this option gives more power (~a German customer dynoed on the same day before and after and gained 28hp with a set of performance air filters!!), and an even more aggressive roar to the already outstanding noise from the Tubi Style silencer. Moreoever it is an excellent way of enhancing the reliability of the car by doing away with troublesome catalytic converters and their associated problems such as damaged thermocouples/cat control stations and excessive heat causing banks of the engine to be shut down.... No ECU reprogramming etc is required - it's just as easy to install as option 1. - Fitment is bolt-on/bolt-off. The 512TR in particular has a problem with burnt out thermocouples sending "out of parameter" voltages to the ECU and triggering warning lights related to cat temperature.

There is ONE more variation which you can specify for your car. A very rare special-order Rumore Tubi Exhaust is available for the Ferrari 512TR. The cost is the same (even if specified with the sport pack). This is a MUCH more aggressive muffler system for customers that want more volume and an even more raucous bark from the engine. It is especially loud if ordered as part of the sport pack. However it is also an inexpensive way of increasing volume without needing to remove the catalytic converters from the car if you feel the Tubi exhaust alone may be too quiet.

Regardless of the option you choose, Tubi Style build the best exhaust systems in the world for supercars - especially Ferrari - Tubi are the supplier to the Ferrari F1 team and have a Ferrari-associated motorsport record dating back to the late 80's. We even build some exhaust systems for Ferraris original equipment. Each road car system is beautifully hand built and imported from Maranello, Italy, next to the Ferrari factory. All options sound fabulous, look lovely, and reduce temperatures while giving an ACTUAL power increase. .

I am perfectly happy with just a Tubi. The cats on my car are still in place. That way it is loud, but not "too loud".

But I know that you like it LOUD! I think that Manu will offer you a deal where you can try the exhaust and change it to another type if you don't like it. Talk to him about this deal.

I would take a Sport pack

I removed cat on my 348 and the difference is really imortant, the engine revs quicker and the sound is a bit louder...

I also have a custom made inox exhaust system...

Ohw my God; i'm becoming very frightened now..... as i have a 328gts too, as my first F. So it is defenitely better to NOT have a ride with someone in his 512tr, because that will cost a lot of money, the sooner or later??? :D:D
Nevertheless; congrats Marc!! supercar! tickle yourself with it!

So you have to change your profile-photo someday now! :). It is still the beautiful 328. You had a red aerofoil i see. Also a red targa?
I stick to my 328 gts for now, as i have her only for 4 months, but maybe I'll follow you one day :). Greetzz.
