There's a strange duality that runs thru these owners, isn't there?

Guys that worked all their lives to work hard, attain, achieve and realize a dream..

And borderline (and beyond) criminals on open ended leases...........

We should have color coded license plates or something.........(WAAAY OT!!)

How would the police have the ability do down the information from an Enzo or any other car for that matter? Its my understanding that the software for cars is the property of manufactors and guarded, i just cant walk into th Lexus store and get the software to read what ever info is recorded, i have seen it first hand with my Lotus, it showed every shift, max RPS and alot of data but it wasnt in chronological order. It would be a suprise to me if an Enzo has the ability to record the last speed driven or the police to get that info, just my opinion, perhaps i'm wrong

Good point, and also I doubt it's armoured as in planes to outlive destruction of the machine...

I'd say that one won't play tunes anymore OR light up the dash.........

Sounds like they'll have eyewitnesses to sort this guy out.......

Pictures are available on www.wreckedexotics.com, not much info though. Your best bet is to check the Enzo Registry.

I wish I could buy an Enzo now, at this rate there will only be a few left in 5-10 years... good investment in an amazing car!

It is not strange that fuel would be intruding into the passenger area of a midengine car. I suppose the fuel lines are routed from the fuel tank located in front of the driver and passenger compartment but the lines would be below the cabin. Carbon fiber chassis is strong but doesn't deform like metal bodies. porsches have metal bodies that protect the fuel lines so cars don't burn that often (except for 914's which are quite prone to catch fire from plastic lines cracking from age). Enzo's should have fuel cells with rupture-proof bladders instead of regular tanks.

The tank(s) are behind the cabin if I'm not mistaken.

Nope, in France when it comes to car accidents the authorities used to become histerical. A Judge is in charge of the car crash and the Police investigators have the ability to take whatever they want. The best Ferrari experts (usually regional dealer) are asked to assist the authorities (by "asked" I mean they have no choice if they don't want to be in trouble), computers and records are ceased by the Police (McLaren F1 and Enzos have Computers but also numbers of limos like Mercedes, etc.. The Mac and Enzos have very detailled datas records). The hospital have to give the judge their blood analysis of the injured driver to determine if he was under the influence of the alcohol or even drugs. In the case of the driver, no big deal as he has diplomatic immune (it means in the case he killed your child with his car you can't expect any justice at all...). In other cases, people were attached to their hospital bed with handcuffs during their treatment and bring to the court when ready. A judge assistant is called "Procureur de la République" (in French) he decides what to order the Police to do. If he wants to inspect the suspects home he sends an "Ordonnance de perquisition judiciaire" wich means its a document wich give the investigators the right to enter in your house (by any means - usually just by brokin' the door if you don't want to let them enter). Usually the authorities can seize the wreckage until the file is closed and it could be for months or years. During this period and until the guy is charged - or not - of anything the guy have no rights on the car.

I wrote a post about this here
He was a rich entrapeneur...he owned an Hotel and other business around Milan.
That morining was the 3rd-4th time that he (i know a friend in an italian newsgroup that live 3 km far from the tragedy scene, and also other witnesses confirm this) drove in that street completely flat out....around 250-260 kmh.
He had 2 little children...the bigger should be 10 years old.

May him rest in peace :(

This is an interesting extract from this link:
As Associated Press report said that Kerimov purchased the Ferrari Enzo sportscar, a 12-cylinder model that can accelerate to 100 kilometers (60 miles) per hour in 3.2 seconds, in Nice earlier on Saturday. Witnesses apparently told investigators that the car had been weaving in and out of traffic at high speeds on the Promenade des Anglais, a road alongside the Mediterranean Sea lined with cafes and hotels, museums and posh apartments.

As far as negative comments, without a doubt there are a few that are in poor taste. However since this is a US based website "Freedom of speech!". As far as the picture of the Enzo on fire how is this in bad taste? The picture was specifically shown to prove the point that the car was not broken in half before the fire started. Many of us are trying to figure out how the car caught on fire. If the picture showed a person clearly being burnt than that would certainly be in poor taste but the moderators on this site are very good about catching such images quickly and making an obvious warning before you are able to look at such a picture.

This is a website about Ferraris and our love for them. Certainly just about anyone on this site feels sad when a person is harmed in any circumstance, but when a Ferrari is also harmed some of us feel sad about that also and once again since this is a website about Ferraris the main theme is Ferraris not some person being harmed.

The last point is that if death, burning bodies, and crashes make you feel weak than maybe you shouldn't look at threads that deal with serious crashes such as these.

Just some thoughts from a Geek behind a computer.

On that note, if he deserved what he got, then everyone who has sped going through traffic should be disfigured/ killed if they do not get into a severe/ fatal accident, right?

He was acting irresponsible and unfortunately paid the price. He played, he paid. But deserve it?
