It was nice and unique in 1993 when it opened. Its more a place to stare as opposed to a legendary food experience. When its warm, mostly poseurs park in front in 360s or Gallardos, popping bonnets and revving engines to impress the golddiggings HOs that lie in wait. Sometimes they find it so important to show off, that they leave their warm dinners and table guests to wait as they compare eurotrash notes curbside.

Go for drinks or dessert, the outdoor tables have a minimum to avoid cheapskates from hogging tables. If you want a romantic italian joint, go to the North End and valet ur ride

some reviews i ve been reading say the food isnt all that great and that it IS mostly about image. bummer.

i think we may hit up the north end or end up going to the capital grille. (last time i was to the boston one it wasnt that great. chestnut hill is better in my opinion)

It is very overrated and as stated above, mostly for people to show off their money. The desert selection is good and it is fun to go to on a nice summer afternoon or evening. That being said, it is being closed with in a year I beleive. As Armani as deemed it a waste of revenue space. So you may want to at least try it out before it goes.

Been there, done that years ago. Not worth the time of day IMO. But hey, some people go there and enjoy pretending to be someone or perhaps it helps their ego. Don't know the answer for sure, though it can not be for the food.

Better bet is going to the North End and enjoy some great italian food and stop into a bakery for desert :)

Totally agree. Dolce' Vita in the North end is the shizzle! Anything on Salem Street is good. I can't speak about Armani as I have never been there.

Back when i lived in Boston in 2000-02 Armani cafe was just a show off spot. Walk by and you'll see.
I agree with those who've said there are much better restaurant/places in town

Couldnt have said it better; all pose, and whats worse IMO the food sucks. I laughed my ass off this past summer as a guy in a 550 literally had hair coming thru his shirt, while wearing a massive gold chain, revving the engine, like that was required to leave the car for the valet:)

agreed! i am originally from orange country, califonia, where the armani cafe at south coast plaza was too nuoviriche to stay in business - it has since been sold to some other franchise. in my opinion, the food at armani cafe is terrible compared to other food you can get in boston for comparaible price. it is definitely a place to show off your car, although i would not dream of letting the valet park my range rover SC out front since a friend of mine allegedly had his 550 crashed by an overzealous valet at that establishment. there are many other finer estishments, check out radius, i have heard nothing but good things about there

i was referring to the valet at south coast plaza, a large mall in southern california - not the armani cafe on newburry, just in case there was any confusion

Use the car, drive to Federal Hill in Providence, visit multiple great restaurants and save a buck or two on the bill. No celebrity watching, just good food and nice atmosphere ;>)

Sounds like a great idea - plan an F-chat event in Providence in the spring/summer and let's meet on Federal Hill. I'm up for that!
