f430 vs 599

I think 430 is "prettier" but then so is the DB9, so I choose the 599 as a more masculine car.

 

IM going to have to use that as my signature when my subscription clears!

 

Well I've never seen a 599 in person but even without the "looks better in person" logic I'm going to go with the 599. Ferrari's front engine cars have always IMHO looked better. The 599 is a beautiful blend of class and curves that to me is quickly climbing my personal favorite-of-all-time list.

That being said I also think the 430 (even the back) is gorgeous.

 

599 > F430 > 575

While Ferrari's are beautiful, the 360/430 are nowhere near the most beautiful V8's. I love the looks of the 550, but the 599 is even more stunning.

If we look at the F430 and 599 cars side-by-side, I think we might see things more clearly.

The side view, IMHO, is close to a tie, but I give the F430 the tie breaker. The 599 seems even longer than the 575, so I prefer the compactness of the F430. Both look great from the side, but to me, the F430 is more aggressive.

The view from the rear is not the best view of either car. I think the 360 is similar to the F430, but the 360 was a better, more pure, design. The 599 is an overly simple and clean design. I think 4 round tail-lights would have been a better look. The rear area on the 599 where the cavallino horse is, is a little too tall, I think. The F430 is going for the "enzo look" with the 4 tail-lights half exposed on the rear-top of the car. I vote that the 2 cars are a close to a tie when viewed from the rear perspective, but I like the F430 slightly more.

The front view is good on both cars. The F430 is a clean design with an aggressive modern look. The 599 has the modern blend of a 612 and a 1960's Lusso. I give the nod to the 599 in the better looking nose.

So, from adding up these 3 perspectives, my total score is a tie on looks between the F430 and 599.

But, as far as the stock wheels look, I like the F430's compared to the pentagram stars on the 599.

I've seen one, and the car is total unbelievable Sex on wheels!

 

Being a mid-engine guy this is very difficult for me to concede....the 599 is far better looking overall. It has sophistication and agressive looks! This is a car that 007 would drive! I would have liked to see four tail lights but the two may grow on me. The 599 just wails "classic ferrari"

As for the F430 it looks better than the 360..... but that is not saying much.

 

I'm all for the 430. The 599 is good lookin, but something about that 430 just amazes me.

 

For me it's the 599. I got to sit in one at the LA auto show and it's a great car.

 

I got to see these cars on showroom floor next to each other at the Helsinki Motor Show last week, and the 599 looked overwhelmingly good - looks much better in flesh than the in pictures. The looks and stance of this thing just utterly blew me away.. and this one even had the pentagram wheels of which I'm not too fond of.

But this has got to be said though, the F430 is looked VERY nice as well. I'd take either one...

I can say I was a bit negative on the 599 when it was first released in concept pictures. Since then I have seen it, touched it, sat it in. When you see the car in person, the car has a very serious presence. You can just 'feel' the car when standing next to it.

 

F430 is my choice and much better looking than the 599.

 

I much prefer the F430 in appearance, especially the rear. The rear diffuser is just plain mean.

I don't like the vertical headlights of the 599, and while I appreciate the flying buttress C-pillars for what they are they don't make me like the looks of the car For me the 599 is about insane performance wrapped up in a fairly unassuming package (compared to the 430).

 

For those of you that prefered the 599, just imagine a 599 with a V8 and a 430 with a V12...which you think is better, pretier and so on....

 

599 hands down, its not even fair to put the F430 in this comparison.

599 will be considered one of the great Ferraris of all time, mark it down.

 

Wonder how many in this thread have personally seen a 599. The rear 1/3 and rear end are F-U-G-L-Y!

 

YES...it's like a Corvette...big, very big...almost a truck.
I'm sorry American fellows, but a Ferrari is supposed to be small. with rear engine, very hard to drive....well. a real men's sports car.

 

The rear is REALLY large. HUGE! So very, very much 'white space' when viewed from the rear. My hopes are that Ferrari is not continuing on the larger and larger... and larger format. Comparing a 308 to modern cars shows only a hint at the vast size differential that modern Fcars are obtaining. In contrast, the Lotus and Porsche Cayman S really have great proportions and small(ish) size. i see little reason for the 599 to have such an enormous rear end as it is a front engine car. Maybe 599 owners like Biff and Muffy need their polo and golf accessories, a week's worth of cloths, AND two hat boxes?

 

I love them both.

 

Saw the 599 at the Collection in Miami, definitely the 599 over the 430. IMO
the 430, while it's a fantastic car performance wise, the 360 still looks
better.Having said that , I'd still take a 599 over either of these two, money being no object. My next Ferrari? 360.
