I need some recomendations for a Ferrari-class-type of restaurant to take a special person for their b-day. Italian or American food is good but open to suggestions, Preferrably in NB/CDM area. PM or post. Thanks!

There's a new spot called Hush near laguna beach that's pretty cool... but for a nice meal, I've always enjoyed Gulfstream. Then, of course, there is 21 Oceanfront by NB Pier!

also the harbor something or other next to the pavilions just below the promontory apartments. chase rolls and i haunted there. avoid 3thirty3 unless you are over 50 and have an 18 year old trophy wife.

We like the Daily Grill at Fashion Island. Not the one up towards Irvine on Jamboree Road.

black355 and i would disagree on that. last time we were there the service sucked (I punched out a window on an mbz of a lady that almost ran me over) plus you can't park your fcar anywhere near the place.

Oyster's , on the corner of PCH and MacArthur in CDM. Save room for the homemade S'mores dessert.....

There is a similar thread on good Newport restaurants in the archives, last six months or so.

Ah, yes, The Loft is excellent and the valets haven't messed up (or laughed at) my crusty old P******. If you need to impress someone who is into cheese, they have a very talented fromagiere. FWIW, my step-mother-in-law likes the Arches, which means that it has officially jumped the shark- I think there are many better choices.

OK, I missed the deadline. Regrets. Consider this joint. Ain't incredibly expensive and is very accommidatig re: parking of the car. Good food. Mama Gina's has good food and nice music in the PM. Check 'em out. They've a Web site. It's on PCH just south of the Ruben E. Lee. A potential place for a gathering.
