F540 just seems like an awkward number to me. I'm assuming this is just rumor though.

I don't think it will be a V10, I think they will enlarge the V8.

I'm not sure where you got your information regarding this point. There's nothing in the Top Gear article, or anywhere else as far as I know, that says anything about tailoring a 430CS so it meets the airbag exemption problem in the US. The possibilities are:

    1) The US drops its exemption for the 430 CS -- haven't seen anything yet
    2) A bonafide 430CS comes out but is banned from the US
    3) A dumbed down 430CS comes out that meets US restrictions and is sold globally that way (ugh!)
    4) Ferrari makes two versions of the 430CS -- a euro tiger and a US *****cat.

Hmmm...F540. I dont know, it will be weird with the V12 and V8 Fcar have the same number in the same hundreds....F540 and 599.

Hope they are correct about the 430cs, sounds awesome, and early 07. I suppose if this is true, thats a euro release date meaning mid/late 07 here.

I don't think 540 will be the number they use-it just doesn't sound good. A V10 would be really cool, though.

Hey guys regarding the 360CS kind of came out of nowhere. Did anyone expect that Ferrari would make about 70% changes to the standard 360 Coupe? The car that replaces the 430 will have a completely new platform. A second generation aluminum structure, however I think that the V8 will remain with a increase in bore and stroke. When Maserati first introduced 4.2V8 they noted that the basis of that motor would power Ferrari and Maserati Cars for the next 10-15 years. I think Ferrari can get more power out of this engine very easily.

in the past year or so, didn't sources around Ferrari confirm that they were working on the 5.4 liter V-10? I remember an article in Autoweek talking about that...hmm...V-10 or an enlarged V-8...whatever, it should still be high revving and will put out plenty of power...the next five years will be exciting for sure...still, i would give/sell my soul for the current cars...plenty wicked

It certainly leaves a nice hole in the lineup for a "dino" type ferrari that has similar HP and price to the current F430.

Seems like this will not be the entry level F car. Seems like they are doing the Dino for that. So the Dino comes in at a lower price point the F430 successor moves on in power, price, features (and weight :( )....

What ever it is I am sure it will be great and we will want one. Ferrari seems to be really in stride right now. I'm impressed with what they are doing.

    best regards,
    Jerry

It will not be a V10, thats for sure - In the F430 press book, they state, that the F430 is the start of a whole new generation of Mid-engined V8 Ferraris...

Hmm, that's not they said when they were begging for an exemption for the US. F made it sound like the 430 is nothing more than a fine tuned 360, which it is kinda. Although it's some pretty fine, fine tuning ;) So I wouldn't count out a V10.

2010??? Why so long they should replace the F430 soon. They had better put 600HP in the 540.

    A V10 is too much of a Gallardo-me too.

540 sounds a bit weird in these parts, considering our resident 540 personality :)

The number "360" doesn't exactly inspire confidence as the name of a car either... ;-)

    V10 sounds Gallardo
    540 sounds BMW

It was like this for the 360: first 360 Modena, then 360 Challenge and then 360 Challenge Stradale,

    is that correct ?
a difference between Challenge & CS

F540 is probably "code word" at this point for a planned 5.4 liter engine. They usually call it something like that at the factory before coming up with a more desirable name. Now the 599 is a twelve cylinder so it might make sense that a 540 is a V10 considering the 430 is an eight cylinder and the Gallardo is a 5 liter V10.

The new Dino will be the entry level V8 and the F430 replacement will be a V10.

It may sound crazy BUT when you have Ford and Chevy selling 500HP.For 45k and 75k.Then Ferrari need to deliver.
I'm NOT saying its all about HP but you got to come to the game looking respectful.

ton of typos and misinformation in the article. My CS surely doesn't have plastic side windows. Also 360CS with a more powerful 325 hp motor? Not to be skeptical but there is a lack of credibility after reading it. Besides, I thought the last production year of the 430 was going to be the end of 08 so 2010 seems really off. Just my 2 cents.
