Not in this picture. Oil separater is can that mounts on firewall just to left of throttle shaft. Small hose goes down to engine sump and larger hoses go to carb air box and to Oil filler on front cam cap.

Don't park your car next to a gas fired water heater in a garage!

    John leaves his outside, IIRC.

I've kept the vapor recovery and charcoal can in a nod to the EPA......

    YMMV..

If any of you guys are jealous of Jon's Dino project and want a project of your own, you should check out the '76 glass 308 for $20K.... It is rough but it is all there and appears to be straight... The glass 308s are lighter, faster and rarer... prices on 308s are rising and the glass cars will always be the most desirable... Someone should take on that car because it really needs a good home.... It will be a $100K car some day soon.

    Hey! Keep it quiet! LOL!

I responded to you on that thread...

I agree many similar design/parts on the two cars.....

$20K don't sound like much, in Dinoland, does it??? LOL!

    Jon,
Thought a little about your desire for metal jacket gas lines. I wouldn't. There is no technical reasons for and some maintenance reasons against. More Bling is not required after all you have done.

2006 fuel hose is just fine. Since there is a constant flow from left to right tank, the pressure will never come within 200 psi of the burst pressure of standard hose. 20 psi is not likely. Abrasion is not an issue if stock clamps are used on line down to pump. If you are going to drive the car, and I hope you will after all this, you will pull the fuel lines off carburators on occasion. Keep it easy on yourself to get off and on. Once again, I think that Ferrari did most everything well, very well indeed. They added strength where needed and added lightness where needed. Same way you build an airplane. Good philosophy to follow.

Boy those carbs were dirty! Looks like the cleaner worked its magic. I pulled all the little vacuum lines and the valves in my air box. Looks like you are planning no air box. Make sure to plug all the manifold vacuum ports. None of this was on the Euro versions. Same for the gas vapor trap. There is no reason to worry about fire in the garage without the trap. All cars up to 1972 did just fine. You are now exempt and will not personally destroy the planet by evaporating a milliliter of gas per week. Glad to see you back at work.

    Jon,
I plugged every one of the little ones. Caplug with a little silicone works fine. If you do not run an airbox, run the oil vapor separator vent line down flush with bottom of frame where oil vapor won't bother anything. Won't be much until rings start to go but there is always a little.

Nerodino and Jon - I believe I obtained the Cavis hoses from GT Car parts. In addition, I ordered some from a Ducati website. Apparently the Eye-talian motorcycles used Cavis Benz hose.

If you cannot find them at GT Car Parts in Arizona, let me know and I will dig through receipts. Tom Champion in Connecticut also found some. He may have been my resource.

Jon, I see you are not afraid to cheat on Dr. Pepper with Dr. Thunder.. :) Love the pics.

I agree that Industrial Liquidators is a cool place to browse around. Most people would never expect a place like that exists.

I also believe there is no reason to justify SS braided lines except that I like the 'bling', I guess. I like the way they look, feel, and function when properly set up. I guess I did them on my Datsun because I bought a fuel cell with AN sump outlets. Once I started to plumb it up I kind of got hooked. AN fittings are like a sickness. Once you start using them you want to use them everywhere you can. :)

    Thanks again for the pics.
Dino get together still in January? If you do not mind me showing up in the Datsun I would love to get a chance to meet you and see your progress - it is the only car I have at home and I promise not to get in the way :D I will be in San Diego for the middle two weeks of the month...

    Cheers.

Okay, three long and very entertaining nights of reading have brought me to the end of this great thread!!
I really love restauration-stories and they don't come any better than this one!!

Great pictures and amazing to see that you don't cut corners anywhere. Everything will be perfect when this car is finished.

Many thanks for posting all these pictures and stories!

We are breaking ground in a few weeks for a new house. The best part is the garage. There's 2 attached to the house and a 4 car one detached. I'm working on the interior design of the garage. I got some of these tiles to inlay into the concrete, 1 in front of each space for starters.

    jon,

these tiles were used for years in all ferrari dealerships. it would be awesome if you built garages that replicate dthe dealership feel from those years. i have long thought about doing so, but the interiors of my garge would lend itself to it.
