I am not sure if this is funny or sad!!!

One of my best friends, she says to me today, "Uzy, you have no fashion sense. You dress like an old man. All you wear is khakis and dress shirts. Get some style man!".

Ok ..I need style... so help me find it!!!

So what are good men's magazines to find out what the latest clothing trends and latest style is for mens clothing are

What are some of the more "hip" and "trendy" stores to shop for clothes.

    Any help would be appreciated.

(and yes, I am about 32 years old. so I lost my sense of style and fashion when I got married)

    Thanks,
    UZY

have you seen the way i dress? plads that dont match.....whatever. My suggestion find a woman you know who is in to fashion and go shopping with her. I had an ex-girlfriend who was huge into fashion, i was the best dressed guy in socal (yeah i know, what happened). However, make sure that YOU feel comfortable in what she suggests and make sure that she understands your personality, job, hobbies and age. If you go with a teen, you will be dressed like a backstreet boy.

Just a suggestion. Also, it is fun to go shopping with hot chicks, and they love it.

Easy. Go to one of the higher end retail chains like Newman Marcus, or Nordstrom. Go in and ask them to dress you. You give the preferecnes, you tell them your budget, and their staff is usually pretty sawvy and they have training. They should be able to recommend what you definitively need for your line of work and leisure time, matching it to your skin color/body shape. That's why you pay a bit more :)

Or, go to stores such as Brooks Brothers and similar for conservative but timeless clothing.

Look it in this way: it is easier to get a good wardrobe at once, rather than trying to "patch" your existing one.

Question, Sorry , maybe it's just me but is the "Southern California" forum the place to talk about fashion, real estate prices, architects, tile floors.Dr's,
wealth management, mortgage lenders, home warrantees, home security systems and money loans? or more Ferrari, automotive oriented topics? Maybe a better place would be the"Off Topic" forum?, maybe not? Just a suggestion.

I dunno, So Cal is a very special Regional Section........

    You forgot Stock Picks! LOL!

Somebody give me a surf check........never listen to a ladie's fashion sense unless she's sleeping with you! Maybe not then.......

You can look like GQ...it's kind of trendy, but some of the classics are good.

Dark eyeliner on men? I THINK NOT!

I go with Levis 517s, some Lucesse boots and a Scully repro worn open over a band logo T shirt....Dave Alvin would be good...or Reverend Horton Heat....

    There.

*flipping longhorn to the ground, flesh sizzling under a branding iron.....*

Maybe she just means the "same look" everyday is getting you in trouble..

Yacht Club look: Tommy Hilfiger windbreaker, khaki shorts, Sperry deck shoes, the three color ones...

Beach look: Silk tropical print shirt, Birdwell Beach Britches, Rainbow sandals, like Gerry Lopez...

Track look: Vintage F1 crew shirt, jeans, driving shoes......crash helment..

You get the idea......I just took a Field position, I've worn t-shirts, Dockers and tennis shoes for the past six months! ROTFLMAO!

All those suits, boots, ties........gathering dust!

I don't agree. When Ferrari folks get together in So Cal for a run, cars show, VCR sundays, etc., we discuss all kinds of things. (cars included!) It's the comaraderie that counts! And this applies to the forum. if there is a topic that is not of interest to an individual, then that individual need not open the thread.

Since you live in Simi Valley, a place to check out near to you is M. Fredric in the Westlake Promanade. Now they aren't going to have your suits and evening attire, for that go to Neiman's or Barneys. What you will find there are some ultra trendy everyday man's clothes. Lots of jeans, t shirts, and jackets. Try on some true religion jeans, an Ed Hardy shirt, and a casual suit jacket. You can find something there you would like. The staff is super helpful there too.

If you want some killer upscale clothes try Scott & Co. in Sunset Plaza, there is a girl that works there named Helena, not only is she super hot, but she has a great sense of style. You can find everything from suits to casual attire there.

If you cant find anything at those stores than just hit up Tommy Bahama next to the T.O. Civic Center. Anything there works for all occasions. Good Luck!!!

And don't forget dress for yourself not others.

Just stay with something classy, not to trendy. I stay away from trends such as the bright colors, euro style shoes, folded long sleeves, and so on...I do a little but not overboard.

Also a funny thing is just roll up in the right exotic car, and most girls wont care AT ALL how you are dressed....I'm sure we have all experience this once or twice...

To each his own but to me, having a sense of fashion is not that much different than having good taste in cars.

    Some clothes I like:

Sweaters from Barney's, going out dress shirts from Ted Baker, nice-fitting jeans from whomever, business/business casual from Hugo Boss...

I usually avoid the hip and trendy. I'm certainly not on the leading edge of fashion.

I'm extremely picky about fit. Nothing's worse than having pants that are too short or shirts that are too large.

    Good luck!

Well If your name goes with what you drive then you're probably not on too much of a budget but just in case you don't want to blow a ton right away you might try the outlets, a way to look good with not so much cash (the Ontario mall has great stores and if you don't like it there's an nice mall just north of it where you can find a Bloomingdales that has some good stuff).

Also I've noticed that most people don't realize that Macy's and places like that have pretty nice designer clothes for men that are usually pretty cheap compared to other places, and lastly Banana Republic....you can never go wrong with that place, not everyones style but it's really hard to make that stuff look bad even if you have horrible taste.

Another mag that has good ideas is MensHealth, if you don't feel like dropping 1k on the boots or other things they show you then just make note of the style of things they have and you can usually find much cheaper ones just about anywhere.

    Hope this helped.
