Small world. An old cigar smoking buddy's home was featured on that show once.

    Question from the Wife:

Did they have to pay anything or does HGTV pay for it?

I know they paid for it, but you can use the HGTV angle to get things donated or at a discount. Basically you set a budget and give them a call.

I can't believe the budgets for that show. The set-up is always something like..."so and so would like to remodel their walk-in closet to provide more shelf space, but they have a modest budget of $50,000". I know it varies regionally, but most of these people could remodel their entire homes if they would pick up a design book and contract themselves.

This remodel included an elevation change in the foundation, which I think was the biggest expense (house built on a slope in shaky SoCal) so it's not like they were putting up some sheetrock and new tile. I do have to admit that on some of the shows I'm a bit confused where they spent the money..

    Here's a bad "before" pic.

    Sorry, I watched CSI.

No TiVo, I'll check it out on Sunday after football.

Entertaining show-- they had a budget of 75k, and you know where the cash went. The other two designers really had no clue what to do, that was obvious!

    Indeed, a small world.
Our cousin's house was featured on 10:30 pm show on 1/19/06 at HG. The first time I watched the show on this channel. His house has a great view of Mt.Hood, the downtown Portland, & the water.

I watched it, nice outcome. That really was a designers challenge.
