    Check this out:

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3588500801&category=223&sspagename=STRK%3AMEBBI%3AIT&rd=1

I was bidding on it until it reached a hundred, then I got cold feet:

I sent the seller two emails whether this is really a 1/18 scale model (or just a typo), but no reply. Also his feedback is zero and he lives in Germany, so hard for me to do any legal steps in case he fails to deliver.

Does anybody know about this model? Is Crono a kit they once offered? I would love to buy this and would be willing to go higher in my bid, but I don't want to be taken for a ride.

You'd better stay off this one - 114 Euro ?!?!?! I'd rather give my money to the salvation army before this.
The funny thing is - its in ENGLISH, 99% of all germans write their adds in german.
Besides he dont sent to the US (IF he sends)

    Andreas,

I know a little bit about this company. I've got a lot of Twin Chrono's 1/43 scale models. They're a bit crude but highly collectible. I see a few of the 1/43 on Ebay but rarely do I see the 1/18 scale from this company.

If it comes with all original packaging then I would pick it up.

    Thanks guys for your comments.

200 bucks would still be a fair price if this thing is really 1/18. It would be even fair at 1/43, but since I'm strictly only collecting 1/18 it would be virtually worthless at any other scale.

And the fact that the seller doesn't respond to my two brief questions isn't comforting.

Does anybody have a website for this Chrono company?

    Andreas,

As far as I know they don't exist anymore. Another tidbit is that the 1/43 scale models are quite heavy which suggest an all metal body. I don't know what the 1/18 are like but I assume they are the same.

I don't think it is a scam, but you may pick up more pain than it is worth. Exoto has the same car for about $240, but you would be assured of getting it. Even less on Ebay from sellers with a little more info.

    Exoto? Where?

I have been getting the Exoto catalog for years, but never saw this car. As a matter of fact just recently I complained here about them being so unimganative and never come up with a new Ferrari model. I think I have every single 1/18 model they offer.

My bad. I mistook it for the Exoto 312T4. Sorry to get your hopes up.

I have only seen the 126C2 in 1:43 scale.

Well, I'm a hopeless case: I bid again...
I thought worst case (not counting a scam) it is a 1/43 and since the company no longer exists I might be able to sell it again.

So if possible, do me a favor and don't bid against me. If you must, let me know and maybe we can hash something out.

At the bottom of the page under "Ready To Bid" it says that it is 1:18.

Wow! $280US! Go for it Andreas, good luck.

I've NEVER seen that car at 1:18 like that. Pretty rare. 1 day left.
    Are you current high bidder?

Currently the high bidder. However my crystal ball tells me there are snipers in the woods. I have little hope of securing this one.

Well, just be ready with the trigger with 2 minute to go!

Last time I watch someone try eBay it was our big Iveco truck, we were not high bidder, but bought it from the guy that was!

Must have been a heatwave, those mechanics don't wear much...

Gives a whole new meaning to the title of this thread. Ah, nevermind.

    Oh my: I got it.

Didn't expect that. For the last two days it was just one buck under my maximum and I had decided to no longer raise the price. If the runner up bidder only knew...

I guess now I will finally get an answer to my question (see thread title).

    Will keep you guys posted.
