I guess a piggyback system is OK for some apps, but that product doesn't give you the ability to advance or retard the ignition timing.

You could get more fuel manually just by going to larger fuel injectors or higher fuel pressure, of course. Then you wouldn't even need the piggyback system.

Better to just reprogram the OEM ecu's, I'd think.

You sure are working hard at avoiding buying an ECU. Not having the ignition is definately a down side....although the stock timing is probably pretty close. I'm sure you could make it work.

I'm equally sure you would be happier with with a $1200 E6x or watch ebay for a used one or even an E6k, they trun up for $500 or so. That will let you plug in your lap top and adjust anything you please any time you please.

Two SAE engineers, "Bowling and Grippo" developed a GREAT ECU solution that does everything but A/Ts.

I have been involved in the support forums for a couple years, and people are using this on EVERY brand and in nearly every country.

The MegaSquirt ECU is a stand-alone fully programmable ECU that accepts ANY temp and pressure sensors YOU want, all you need to do is program it for what you have (it assumes ACDelco sensors).

I think the latest version kits are retailing for around $385, and fully assembled and tested units for a little less than $500.

The processor is FASTER than anything the "Big 3" are using, and it has more data cells, so you get MUCH better controls. The limitation is it cannot control an electronic A/T (yet), and is not OBD-II compliant. Then again, I do not know of any stand alone ECU that is.

This is built on an open source platform, and B&G are doing it moreto prove it can be done than for profit. In fact, you can get all the parts you need and make it yourself from places like DigiKey, and download all the software as freeware. That is the hard way, kits provide all the code and parts for LESS than you can buy the parts for in most cases.

If anyone is interested, and I am, visit: http://www.megamanual.com/v22manual/mtabcon.htm where you can get all the details.

    Tilman,
What are you planning for ignition? Stick with stock?
