Look at the E46 Market. Mind you, this was a 65000 dollar car in 2001. As of this week E46 M3 officially have become like E36 M3. In a year every 16-18 year old kid will have one. That guy probably bought it an Auction for 5K. These prices are still high. You guys should see what these cars auction at for used car dealers. With good milage and even nice titles and every option available. M3 is done!! Wait until the E92 Actually hits the street and these things are going to be PWNDED.

    Crazyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy

Well to be fair, the buy-it-now prices are $22k, $22k, and $25k, so I don't think you'll be getting one of these for $18k... and the mileage is in the 75k to 100k range for each of those, which seems about right. Still a pretty good deal though.

I drove 2 in the last 30 days. 01-02's at $30-32k with 30-35k miles. The market is good and when the E92 comes out you would still have a fine car.

Nearly all BMW cars have horrible depreciation. M cars hold more than the regulars, though. I wouldn't buy one. They make good lease cars, but once the warranty is up, repairs get very costly. I'd pass.

I don't believe they drop in price very quickly. The major issue is reliability. They are unstable cars and that's for the last 5 years worth of them.

Just expect to pay 2x the amount for parts compared to a regular 3 series and I woulnd' buy an M without a year of warranty. Who knows why they're for sale. The owner may have found an issue and is dumping it before it can be noticed.

I've seen that 40 times at least.

Oh yeah, no doubt! I wasn't even thinking of buying, but was surprised at a crazy price drop. But for someone who hasssss to have an M3, they can have them. Also a BMW Without warranty = Worthless.

This is the biggest load of crap I have ever read.

I bought my 2002 M3 at the in Nov '01. Ive never had a SINGLE DAYS
PROBLEM WITH IT. I have every single maint record, and not a damn thing
has even gone wrong in 45k miles. Many BMW owners I know can say
    the same. Very reliable.

People who make quotes like this dont own these cars.... They troll around
the internet chat boards and find 1 guy who had 1 issue with his car, and
then tell everyone on the planet how much they suck.

That's exactly what I was thinking... my M3 is 12 years old, has 100k miles, and runs like a watch. The only things that have been to it were either PREVENTATIVE maintenance or performance enhancements. Of the 15 BMW's my parents how gone through, none have been unreliable.

Yep, I had one until recently, a 2004 Cabrio with SMG and had nary a problem with the car. It was quick, handled well, and I ran it as a daily without regard to weather conditions- I threw a set of snows on it for winter, along with the hardtop, and though it was not an offroader, it was still a pretty acceptable winter car. In more clement weather, the thing was fabulous to drive with the top down and extremely comfortable to boot.
The only downside was that it had a 'boy-racer' image. I do see a fair number of them on the morning commute- and, unlike the Bangelized, i-drived, 'cars of the future' that BMW now seems to dedicated to, it had a little of that old 2002 magic that made these cars so desirable when they were first introduced.
(My wife's new 3 sedan has some pain in the ass features, though- like turn signals that have a 'touch' feature that is, to me, impossible to regulate- i overcompensate, and instead of cancelling the turnsignal, wind up signalling the other direction. It is one of those convenience features, like the window button that is 'one touch only,' that creates more inconvenience).
But, we've had quite a few BMWs, along with MBs, Porsches, and assorted exotics, and the BMWs have been very good cars. (Less so the Benz).

The one you say was $18k hasn't met the reserve. So, if the ending bid was $18k, the person would NOT win the car because the reserve was not met.

Yeah buy buy it now price was only 22. So reserve would had been somewhere in between. And as i said, that guy would had been lucky with 18. No where are they going to give him that much.
