Come on Tillman, you have to be more optimistic, not realistic. :)

There are "cheap" F-cars -- the key is to look at cars advertised around market value, then negotiate down.

You're not going to find one at a dealer...certainly not one like Gullwing. Low-priced cars at dealers mean it's a disaster under all the wax and Armor-All.

Undermarket ($) Ferraris can be either a long term $ drain/nightmare or a fun project.

If you can do things, are willing to get your hands dirty, patient and aren't affraid of a challenge, then dive right in.

If your skills are limited to writing checks, then simply write "one" for a good car.

I bought my car for under $20K 6 years ago and with a lot of help from F-chat, some experience, etc I've put together a car I can be proud of and wont ever lose $ on.

I couldn't have the car I do today if all I could do is bring it to the shop.

Cheap doesn't always = bad just a possible black hole if you don't know what you are getting...kind of like anything in life.

    UnFREAKINbelievable.

I swear, you put a good car on eBay and it struggles to make $25K. You put a POS parts car on there and it takes $17K. There is something magic about a Ferrari under $20K, no matter what condition!

If I ever sell my 308 (OK, not gonna happen), I'm going to say it's a complete beater, fixer-upper, needs tons of work, excellent opportunity for someone to get one cheap, and it will sell for more than if I was honest and said it was a good car that was well maintained!

There was an 83 Wht/blk Mondi that went for $10500-$11000 (less commission) at the rescent Russo & Steele Auction in Scottsdale.... this past weekend.

I looked at the car and it was maybe a 7/10 car... had no real idea about the service history, but it's hard to go wrong at the $ for something that runs/drives and needs some TLC.

I've got to finish my own projects and I'd like to find a blk one if I could, other wise I'd still be one the road driving it home.

Probably delamination of the safety glass. Not repairable if this is the case, you're looking at living with it or buying a new windshield (if they're even available). It also needs a belt/tensioner change right now!

For $13K it would be a fun car to have; of course I'd drop $6K in it and do the belts and retrofit the engine to 1976 spec with 250 hp....

I haven't seen this car, but I've seen the ad before. I know it was for sale when I bought my car in October, but I don't remember why I didn't go and look at it. It was over $20k back then, I believe. At $16k it is approaching a good deal even if it needs some $TLC$.
