lol you probably belong to teh group of people who have regular phones.
iPhone is going after the smartphone market not the ones with flip phones.

When I heard it was coming I never thought it would look like that, not too bad but I did think about getting one, I'm currently still under contract with Sprint so it's not going to be available for me until whenever. Also it's going to be a first generation unit. I give it about a year until the bugs get worked out & more improvements can be made to the touch screen interface. I'm not convinced that will work correctly & I'd expect Apple to try to transfer that technology to the next generation ipods.

that's the point- we're all being spoiled with Nano's, Shuffles, Razr's, etc that are 1/4 the size (and 10% of the function). The Treo, Q, and Pearl are the equivalent size and aren't flying off the shelf at 10m a year - and none are what I'd want to shove in my pocket. Is Apple suddenly going to have a new chipset for desktop like performance and features? I don't think so.

I'm not expecting it to be 3.4GHz Duel Core Intel CPU, but im sure it has more than enough power.

The Pearl was a dissapointment. Apple's main thing here is the interface and its simplicity just like with the iPod.

There are HDD Mp3 players with more space, more features, for a lesser price. But they dont have the iPod's interface+controls.

This phone is going to be so hot.

I'm passing though. I don't need weather, stocks, and a touchscreen for a phone, wtf. I only need a phone for phonecalls. The other stuff my is what my notebook is for. People are going to get raped with data cost plans and other music **** they are more than likley going to offer with the phone. Guaranteed, if I had the money, I would buy as many as I could the date of launch, and coul easily re-sell them to Apple sheep who crave the new iPhone.

Oh, wait, I think consumers have caught on.

Nope, not Apple-tards. SMH at Apple fiends paying double for an iPod armband that releases...

I wonder if I can get drugs to accelerate beating a dead topic?

Andrew Schmitt at Nyquist Capital writes that iPhone v2 is the market killer

And the Apple UI is already being made available for competing products.

Where's the competitive advantage to the UI again?

The irony of Apple lawyers suing for copyright violation on an iPhone is hilarious. Up here in Canada a VoIP SP has the iPhone trademark.

What a ridiculous statement. There's a lot more to a good UI than the icons, which is basically all those themes replace.

You might as well look at a Fiero kit car and ask where Ferrari's competitive advantage has gone.

If the hackers can do it in 48hrs for the look - how long will it take Sony to do it, they're already 1/2 way there with their PSP and PS3.

And Microsoft's shown they can copy from anyone, it'll just take time.

Motorola's desperate for a new UI, I'm sure they'll borrow some ideas.

80% of the functionality for 20% of the cost, it'll happen.

Ferrari's not trying to sell 100% of the smart phone market. As to my point, at $599 it's a boutique product.
