    C'mon gang, Matt's post isn't so far-fetched!

I just shipped my 308 GT4 off to Italy for the factory to do a complete restoration.

Here's the pics.............damn, I just dropped my camera into the ocean as the container ship was loading it.

Oh well, I'll post pics when the car returns after restoration; if I don't sell it first!

Well, this is the Matteo 'roll with it' thread, isn't it? That's actually a picture I took off the back of my 1905 Stanley Steamer. It's signed by Ettore Stanley and came with an original set of doors that are rumored to have raced at the first French Grand Prix back in 1906. It's currently undergoing a chevy small-block transplant and I expect it to be back on these shores sometime in '08.

I wish I knew where that photo was from.. I just Googled "vapor" and it came up. :)

...Which brings me to my next question..Does White Star Line do restorations?? I was thinking, while I have the Glomar, I might aswell raise the thing and have it redone back to its former glory..Thoughts??

Come to think of it, wasn't a current, modern-day cruiseline company like Carnival et al planning to build (and sail) an accurate (or at least, close-to-original-as-possible) reproduction of the Titanic? I think I heard about this a year or so ago, so if true, it would probably still be under construction.

My question is, what azzhat is going to buy a 1st class ticket for the maiden voyage on that f'er?!

Carnival bought out Cunard of Q.Elizabeth, Q.E.II and Q.Mary fame. They just built the Queen Mary II which is the largest ship in several categories now. http://www.cunard.com/ourships/?ship=QM2

Now back to the regularly scheduled beatings

I'm wondering if this thread he started may have something to do with selling his car? I want to give him the benefit of the doubt & I know the history that he has here. I was attacked by him so like many others but in time the hatchet was buried. I had a chance to meet him a couple of years ago for lunch when he came though DFW, he seems to be a nice person. Whatever is going on I'm sure there is a very good reason.

I was wondering the same thing.

Did he take it in for a tune up and they said it needed a new gearbox or something?

    Seems strange

So you're the one that parked it about 20 miles up the road next to the bridge for 10 years or so.

I don't think anybody in their right mind would pay 35k for a 308 with over 74,000 miles on it. I don't care what the condition is.

I'll cime in again on this. If the car is in pristine condition with loads of service records and drives well, it may be a car worthy of a look at the price. I would! The miles would not scare me away if it's been driven and well maintained. Hell, it may have had a good engine and gearbox rebuild!

Maybe Matt needed the money and sold the car to a guy that sees it as an opportunity to make a quick profit.

It's actually a really nice car-- part of the reason why we couldn't figure out why Matteo was sending it back to the factory for a resto. :D

Interesting. Two years ago I put an 83 308 with 20,000 miles on it , perfect condition, fresh major service, all records from new, books, tools, brochures, manual, the whole shooting match. Never got anything but a tire kicker call at 39,500.
