Any input.......If you had to decide between the two. I have a line on a nice 94 spider. The only down side is that the owner put a 355 front bumper on it. I also found a really nice 92 348TS all original. Both cars have up to date service. The 94 costs approx $10K more.

Buy the ts. When sitting in the seat with the top off, you can't tell the difference. When you want a hardtop, you got one. Better aerodymics, available stiffness with top on. Lighter weight. Spend the extra $10k on hookers.

Don't listen to this fool!!! :D :D :D Get the Spider!

The Spider mechnicals are better - Motronic 2.7, more HP, better trans and hotter gearing - plus u get a neat folding top. Pay the money and get the chick magnet.

    Sorry plugz... :)

OK I call B.S. on that one. All but the earliest TS line has the Motronic 2.7. Trans is the same throughout the 348 line as far as I know (No Doubt comment in this?). Folding top is a pain in the arse and looks hideous when it's covering the car.

The TS delivers the best of both worlds - coupe and convertible - and looks good either way.

Save yourself $10K and buy a tubi, some 355 rims, and a fresh 30K service.

    You'll be glad you did.

All we need is someone with a Series Speciale to weigh in as well. Then we got the full 348 range involved :)

Boy I bet you are sorry you started this thread! I guess you got enough answers to make an educated decision even if the only thing you should take away is to get the Spider. :D

Ahem, yes I have a 348TS SS and that is what you should get if you are really savvy. (nod to plugzit) But if the choice is a run-of-the-mill 348TS or a Spider, do the Spider every time. My personal order of preference for the 348 would be:

348 Competizione (like you have a chance of getting one of these in the US legally)
348 Challenge (unraced and in good shape)
    348 SS Gen I (1992 and 1993) or,
    348 SS Gen II (1994)
    348 Spider
    348 TB or GTB
    348 TS or GTS

    Something like that....

TS. The spider does not look as good when the top is up. If you are going to be using the car with the top down all the time, then get the spider. Good choice either way.

I'd rather have the spider, I've seen them up close.
I have a TS. It's nice to have a full convertible top.

when it comes to leaks I don't think it matter which one
you own. they both probably leak water.....
I take that back, they all probably leak water :))

    Sorry,

But the best one out of the 348`s is the Spider, TS`s creak, groan and leak!! My Spider even in torrential rain storms does not leak at all.

    Regards,
    Phil.
