You are right the 917 is unreal and a very important car. Tom, do you know the story on that great car? Is it Canadian? Race history etc.?

I've got some very low quality resolution movie clips of the car doing laps, but at 6, 2, and 2 MB each I'd need a place to dump them if you wanted.

I know nothing of the history, but am guessing MCL might, as they were the sponsor of the event.

I guess I should dig through my old pictures somewhere - I should have some interesting ones from our local Historical Races back in the mid 80's up at Westwood Racetrack (before it was torn out to build our house :D). I recall two 250TR's (either would rarely start as I recall), a JPS F1 car, 427 Cobra - some really cool iron for even back then, and very informal - pits wide open.

Thanks for that very heady title... ;)

I don't know the 917's specific race history, but it was the car used in Steve McQueens "LeMans" movie.

It sounded great, but was severely held back on this short, itty-bitty go-kart-like facility we call a race-track. I don't think it ever got out of second gear. But I must give all the credit to Vintage Racing Motors who are based in Seattle and were responsible for bringing that car up. Every year they have brought up some cool, blue-chip cars like this (Jag D-Type in '04, this 917, last year was the Ferrari 250 Monza worth $3million U.S.!) to our wee little track. Great stuff, can't wait to see what's coming this year.

    Nice pics by-the-way Tom!

Thanks - any pics of the Monza? Cabin Fever's getting pretty severe up here in the hills. Driveways iced up, road's still covered in snow...

I went to the Detroit autoshow today. It was ok but I have been to better years. Lambo let me up in the display, some people were actually mad the I got to go "BEHIND THE GLASS" I could hear them talking when I was in the Gallardo spyder. Ferrari would not let me up, I guess im not good enough. I was alittle dissapointed they did not have the 599 on a turntable so i could get a shot of the backend.

Sorry if the pics are not that great, I wish i took more pics of the lambos but I was to excited and got to drawn into just looking and sitting in them aww memories

That was the only model they had there
2 of the same car just different colors

I asked the sales rep about why there was no vanquish. He said that they are not bringing them to north america this year, something to do with airbag restrictions.

    Nice pics.

But that blue Chevy rally car... Boy, that's even uglier than their old Aztek SUV they made a few years ago.
