I am fascinated by this, as it will be interesting to see what the Feds do.

Leaving him alone would be bad precedent for tax dodgers. Launching an assault would make him a political martyr to the point of being cliche - when all the politically extreme people talk about how the gov't will come and take you away and/or shoot you if you don't pay taxes...

I have known other educated people who got caught up in this "constitutionalism" stuff and think they can rescind themselves from federal jurisdiction, IRS, etc. I have heard some pretty far fetched conspiracy theories relating to these movements.

    Go man! Go!!

The spirit of resistance to government is so valuable on certain occasions, that I wish it always to be kept alive. - Thomas Jefferson

When the government fears the people there is liberty; when the people fear the government there is tyranny. - Thomas Jefferson

Single acts of tyranny may be ascribed to the accidental opinion of the day; but a series of oppressions, begun at a distinguished period, and pursued unalterably through every change of ministers (adminstrators) too plainly proves a deliberate, systematic plan of reducing us to slavery. - Thomas Jefferson

We must not let our rulers load us with perpetual debt. We must make our election between economy and liberty or profusion and servitude. If we run into such debt, as that we must be taxed in our meat and in our drink, in our necessaries and our comforts, in our labors and our amusements, for our calling and our creeds...[we will] have no time to think, no means of calling our miss-managers to account but be glad to obtain subsistence by hiring ourselves to rivet their chains on the necks of our fellow-sufferers... And this is the tendency of all human governments. A departure from principle in one instance becomes a precedent for[ another]... till the bulk of society is reduced to be mere automatons of misery... And the fore-horse of this frightful team is public debt. Taxation follows that, and in its train wretchedness and oppression. - Thomas Jefferson

Those who are feared are hated. - Ben Franklin

Why did it take 10 years for the Gov't to realize he's not paying his taxes?

I checked out his wife's dental website. She's definitely what we'd call a "fringe dentist." So, no surprise there.

It's SO easy to live a good life and be VERY prosperous LEGALLY. Why fight the system? I see paying taxes as a GOOD PROBLEM to have. If I pay a lot of taxes, I must be making a lot of money.

Bottom line is: If you $%^k with the IRS, you WILL LOSE. It's simply not worth it. Rather than spending so much energy on a lost cause, why not direct that same energy towards making TONS of money legally???

    Mike - non-fringe dentist :)

God I hope this doesn't turn into another ruby ridge (remember that? About ten years ago here in idaho) I admire what he's doing though he's taking a stand. (note: I'm a registered Libertarian and am at some point relocating to NH as a member of the free state project.)

The Ruby Ridge incident was sad. The FBI sniper shot and killed a pregnant woman for no reason except to intimidate the people inside the house.
