310km/hour in a 1996 porsche 993 turbo. 317km/hour in a 1997 porsche 993 turbo S. 278km/hour in a 1994 348 spider(top down) 280km/hour in a 1994 acura nsx. and thats all I can remember.
I almost got a ride in an F-14 with a pilot named "Heater" Heatley. I forget his first name. Charles maybe? He was a commander at the time. We met on a CH-46 helo flying from Muscat, Oman back to the Indy (CV-62) during Persian Gulf I. He noticed my camera and we talked photography. He is a serious photographer and published a military aviation book some years ago called, "The Cutting Edge." When we met, his camera was kaput, and he borrowed mine for a few days. In the end, we couldn't arrange for a backseat ride for me in the F-14. But, I did get a ride in an S-3, and all never top that experience in the civilian world. Mike PS... you're still winning unless somebody comes on here claiming to have ridden in an SR-72! Or maybe the space shuttle!
It was just a Trek Y22, with mountain tires on a road. By far the scariest of anything "high speed" I've ever done.
you won by virtue of the aar toyota gtp car...did not matter what the speed...you simply win by virtue of how crazy that machine is!!!!!!! btw... the car was partly responsible for the killing of the great imsa racing we all knew and loved. we won't see those great days again!!
155mph indicated on a 2000 Honda CBR600, really not that bad as long as you're all tucked in with miles upon miles of empty, flat, straight road in front of you.
An indicated 174 MPH on my Aprilia while at Daytona. Prolly closer to 165 or so in actual speed. The sick part is that I was being passed by GSXR-s and R-1s doing 190. Anywhere from 85-165 in close to 20 different cars / bikes at different tracks at different times of the year. I've lost count.
Gee how'd you know that? The cure is to raise the triple clamps on the forks almost to the top. It gets real interesting when someone is drafting you.
lucky guess scott! ya gotta make her long for "tona"! hey we got to get a drink or dinner when back in boston.
160MPH in a Impreza WRX STi some where in Mexico 160 in my Dinan S2 M3 also, Mexico 155 in a Maserati Coupe same town, Mexico Too many other cars to list in the same region. I spend a lot of time in Mexico! Here is a vid of the STi run: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iDK59M76p9E I don't count any rides those are just when I was driving. -Marc
Absolutely! Yeah running Daytona is fun. The old config was very easy to learn and very easy to go fast on if you had a big motor. I had small stuff done to my bike with an airbox kit, K&N, chip, full exhaust. I was up to 122-128 hp at the rear wheel depending on whose Dyno you were on. All the NHIS or LRRS guys would laugh at most other riders from around the country. All motor, no corner speed. If you can race fast at NHIS you can go anywhere in the country and be competitive. I would get passed at 185-190MPH coming outta Nascar 4, only to pass them again on the brakes into 1. cat and mouse. good times. Back on topic, I went 122 in my second gen RX-7 ITS spec car at LRP. Best lap of a 1:06 Pete, Let me know the next time you are in town. Definitely need to grab some beer! cheers! Scott
Dodge Viper Rt/10 - 187mph(terrifying and unstable as hell) Lotus Esprit V8 - 187mph(this is my fear point the esprit was still pulling) Lotus Elise - 135mph M3 - 145mph NSX - 140+mph nothing too special.. The problem is I live in philly not many good long FLAT roads around here..
140mph in a 92 volkswagen gti 160+ in a 84 rabbit 110 on a cbr 600 55+ on a wakeboard and even faster on a tube both vw's were 400hp+ the gti ran out of go but the rabbit had plenty more left in her. I pussed out because in that little thing 160 feels like 400. oh and yellowenzo... its one thing to show a pic of your maybach's speedo over 100...its another thing to show a pic of the speedo from the back seat. Thats what the kids call "ballin outta control".

Nothing much really. 240 km/hr in my old bugeye WRX when she was bone stock. Current WRX is moderately modded and on ZR semi-slicks and hence is capable of significantly higher speeds, but I don't drive that stupid fast on public roads anymore. Not since fatherhood sobered me. I think the fastest I've gone with this car is around 215 km/hr on a well-paved Malaysian highway in the dry and in no-traffic conditions.
I ran into a buddy of mine last night at the Martini Bar. Hopefully, he'll be posting his list soon on here. He's a big Porsche guy, but is thinking Ferrari for his next ride. Mike Sufka St. Cloud, MN
