Hi guys, I just got finished working on my new Ferrari Formula 1 car. It has been a long work in progress getting this thing into shape. I think Schumacher would be proud of what I have done with his F2002. I have a few pictures of the car here on my website. http://www.f1design.us/sim_main.htm Let me know who wants a test drive! Ciao Steve
So when do we get a test drive??? This is one car that Eddie probably would be able to keep on the road!
@ DR...the pics are too big to link and I am too lazy to resize them...plus it was only one click to get to them @dinodan...Thanks...it was a long term project that turned out better than I thought. @ DP....You will have to come over to my place and give it a go! Steve
Thats really cool Steve, you could bring that to events and let everyone take a roll in it. Very cool Wade
@ Wade...that is a good idea...next event at Sport Auto I will have to try and get it setup there. The thing ways a ton so that is about as far as I would want to haul the thing. @ Jeremy...I am currently playing EA Sports F1 Challenge 99-02. I have found a lot of mods and upgrades for it on a few sites and message boards. Do you have any other suggestions? I also have Grand Prix Legends, but I prefer the newer cars...but that is just me. Steve
I bet that is definitely faster then any of the current F1 cars. That thing looks really sweet... much better then what we usually do... just clip the steering wheel on to one of those dinner trays and such...
No suggestions. I was just curious because the last F1 game I saw was the EA sports. I used to play that non-stop on my PS2. That would be awesome to have an event where everyone takes a stab @ best time of the day. Then you could give the winner_______ (fill in the blank). Good promo tool. L8tr Jeremy
That is the most rediculous, waste of time and money that I have ever wanted to own... If I bring it in one part at a time, my wife won't even notice it until it's done. I, however, would want a bigger monitor...wall size perhaps?
My wife had already decided I was crazy long before this. Since we got married I have been "allowed" to do anything I want as long as it stays in the garage or my office....thus this SIM lives in the office. In regards to a larger monitor I was going to use a projector, but it was TOO large. I had that 19" Dell available so I used it. I think a 24" widescreen would be the best! Steve
I've run Racer on the three large monitors before, was great, the extra width realy adds a lot to it. Not sure about the support with EA Sports F1. With Racer, you can network multiple computers, have each linked in game, and use each one for a different view, or just have it render the three screens if you have the right graphics card. Its not on the top of my list right now, real racing is higher up, but I plan on going all new for my race simming as soon as I can. I don't have teh space to do a full cockpit though. I've seen a similar setup to yours on RSC. The right seating position can make a difference!
I have to admit that project must have taken a lot of time to accomplish such a nice setup. My son complains about the TV tray, but I have to ask; What would you rather do, build a good game station or drive the "Be Jesus" out of the car parked next to it? In N24RE's case he probably did both. Good job Steve. How much are you selling them for?
It took a while, but it was a great project. You know me...I have driven about every Ferrari there is to drive, and I have always wanted to drive a Ferrari F1 car, but since I don't fit I built my own...plus it's a WHOLE lot cheaper...you wouldn't belive the gas mileage A story I don't tell often is that I once had the oppportunity to try and squeeze into an F300 when I was at the factory for a visit a few years ago and take it for a spin. Needless to say it was very discouraging. I couldn't even get my legs in the thing! Steve
Thanks for the tip. I bought a copy of GTR2 this morning and did some multiplayer practice at Monza. The 575 is a brute! Looking forward to a lot of seat time with this one. Great job on the simulator Steve!
Just a quick update Fellons, I made some improvements and made complete measurements and put them in a PDF. I have had a lot of folks PM me about building another one, but currently I don't have the time, but with the drawings in the PDF you should be able the whip one out real easily =) http://www.f1design.us/Modeling/sim/sim.htm Best Steve
We race in an online league.. www.usf1racing.net GTR2 and the CDTP F1 mod for rFactor. Great cockpit. I need to figure something out for mine.. Todd
Steve- have you checked out Logitech's new wheel? VERY nice! http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/products/details/US/EN,CRID=2217,CONTENTID=11867 It even has helicoils in the base of each unit so that you can mount them permanently to mock-ups such as yours. My son just bought one for his new computer and it's a really nice piece of hardware. Steel pedals, leather-wrapped steering wheel, 6-speed shifter. I've got one of their MOMO wheels but this new one is far superior.
Second that. I've tried one and it's really, really nice. Look for the new F1 sim on Sony's new game system.
