    It's an F1, 2006.
A few weeks ago, while working with a Vbox, I was never able to spin the tires on launch. I tried various methods: No brake; nail the gas. Brake and raise rpm's to 3,500 and then release brake. etc

The back tires would never spin! The clutch would simply slip and the car would start moving forward. I bought the car new and it has 1,700 miles on it.

I can't help but think something is wrong. However, performance numbers suggest otherwise. My 30-50 Mph was 1.5 sec and my 50-70 Mph was 1.6 sec.

These compare very favorably with the January 2005 Car & Driver article (using a Euro F430 with Launch control) where they posted a 30-50 Mph of 1.5 sec and a 50-70 Mph of 1.4 sec. Keep in mind that I had 5/8 th's a tank of gas and a 185 lb passenger. They recorded a 0-60 Mph of 3.5 Sec. I can't help but think (based on my results matching theirs and me having a passenger on board) that I can match their 0-60 Mph time if I could get a proper launch. If it were a clutch issue, doesn't it seam like my 30-50 and 50-70 Mph would be a lot longer than theirs? Anyone have any ideas? Can those of you with F1's, light-up the tires? If so, how? Thanks

    Did you turn CST off?
The 430 is not drag racer and I would advise you not to torque the engine against the brakes. That clutch will not take that sort of abuse.

Yes, something is seriously wrong, your clutch pedal is missing! :)

More to the point, I've heard on F1 cars in the U.S. (no launch control) it is pretty tough to get a high performance take-off. Torquing against the brake is not recommended, as Bob said.

No, I don't think anything is wrong. I was able to break the tires loose on my 360 but couldn't do it with my 430.

Thanks for the replies. I don't do that type of stressful driving on cars very often, and more than likely will not do it in the 430 again. However, curious as to how the car would perform without a 190lb passenger, I went back out this AM. The best launch is to just SIT (no brake, no gas etc) and then nail the gas.

Here are the results without the passenger:
    --------------- Best results ---------------
    Time 16:27 Date 26/01/2007

    Speed(mph) Time(s)
    0-60 04.2
    0-100 08.7
    30-50 01.5
    50-70 01.4

I'm done playing until the GT3 RS comes in.

In cold weather, I can break the tires loose in first through 3rd.

I to "can break the tires loose in first through 3rd." That's not the issue; it's off the line that I can't break them loose. They break loose several times in a run when the rpm'***** the power band, and also sometimes when the car shifts.

The prob lies within the F1 programming (imho).

I've owned (and driven the doodoo to of) two SMG M3s and now am driving an F430 F1.

Although I don't care about "launching" cars, I do like to show off sometimes and "light 'em up." Unfortunately (or not? <chuckle>), like w/the M3s, the F430's F1 computer won't allow it.

    Long story short ... nothing's wrong w/ur F430.

    Richard.
