    Guys and Gals,

I'm trading in my Acura RL in on a new dailydriver tomorrow, and would like to get the nose, rear bumper and rocker panels 3M'ed. Since this isn't my Z, I would like to get a decent job but don't want to spend more then $5-$600. I work in Dobbs Ferry, so somewhere in the near vicinity would be ideal -- I am ok with a mobile guy, but I don't have a garage up there. If the detailer could pick up my car in the AM and then return it with 3M that would work.

My new car is black, so I want to get it plastic'ed up as soon as possible (especially with all this salt and sand out there)!

Don't PM -- just post up! I'm sure the info is great for other people here as well.

    Thanks in advance!

Excellent! I know AI's work, definately top-shelf. Will call them in the AM, but they may be a little out of my price range for this. We'll see.

Does that mean I should expect that my balls get waxed and polished to be as shiney as the top of your head?

The reason I mention price is the last time I was at Technik1 they were putting 3m by disassembling the car so as to have no seams. This is overkill...lol.

Maybe I will go to that place in the bronx with the mobile tint shop that is run out of the back of a stationwagon. If wake up in a tub of ice with a not above me telling me to call 911 I'll have nobody to blame buy myself.

you would surprised but the place in the Bronx does very good work and probably more in your price range. Tell them that a friend of JD's sent you. Post what the price quote they gave you. Curious to know

Ok, guys -- will call Lorenzo in the AM and post his quote. Btw, this is for an 07 RDX which has a fairly large nose and bumper (small SUV).

Let's see what Lorezo in the Bronx (I'll be paying all-cash!) can do!

    Thanks Evan!

Im not breaking your chops, but i think your going to have a hard time finding anybody to do that job for that price. The car being black is another thing that is against you. I know most tri-state installers. If your not sure about one PM me. I will give an honest opinion.

Chris from PristineAutowerks did me a huge favor by doing last minute 3M installation. He stopped by my house in NJ on a friday night around 9pm and left at 230am after completing the 3M install on my stradale so that i can head out for a Fchat "Run" on sunday. I would go with Chris again.

Ok I spoke to Lorenzo, and I spoke to Technik, and then I spoke to Joe Deleon (who was recommended by Technik). Joe is located on 81st and 1st Ave, he uses pre-cut kits, but it sounds pretty good. I figure it might be a little higher then I was hoping, but we'll see. I will report back when all is said and done.

Do you have a link or contact info for Technik? I'm shopping around now for protection for the Vette...

They custom cut all their 3m kits as opposed to the pre-cut kits most installers use. This means that there are little - no seams showing. Technik will remove parts of your car to wrap the 3m to hide the seam. While this is obviously the best way to do it, it is extremely expensive. Gus (very nice guy btw) quoted me a grand to do the RDX. This is way more then I want to spend on a dd. If you go with them you won't be disapointed. They've done many folk's cars -- including Joey.

    G'luck!
