I have bought the following Mattel Elite Ferraris:

    F40
    SuperAmerica
    Testarossa
    288 GTO
Super Elite Fxx (yes the expensive version!)
    and today the 599 Fiorano

I also own lots of Kyosho and Autoart models.

The 599 I have to say is poor compared to anything Kyosho or Autoart produce. The others are re-hashes of old Bburago or Maisto models and although are an improvment they still come nowhere near Kyosho or Autoart.

The Elite range are in my opinion worth £25 to £30 GBP each - no more.

Can't wait for the Kyosho F40 and F430. Unfortunately us Ferrari lovers don't have much choice but to be fleeced by Mattel until some one else can buy the outright license to produce 1/18 Ferraris to a higher standard.

There - got that off my chest.

Here are most of my Ferraris and some of my Lambos. They are as follows:

    365 GTB/4 Daytona - Kyosho
    308 GTB QV - Kyosho
    512 BB - Kyosho
    288 GTO - Mattel Elite
    Testarossa - Mattel Elite
    F40 - Mattel Elite
    F355 - UT
    F456M - Mattel Hot Wheels
    550 Maranello - UT
F50 Barchetta - Maisto (Don't think the 'Elite' is enough of an improvement)
360 Modena CS - Mattel Hot Wheels
    Enzo - BBR
    F430 - Mattel Hot Wheels
599 GTB Fiorano - Mattel Elite

    On the Floor:
    FXX - Mattel Super Elite
    Enzo - Mattel Whips 'White'
    328 GTB - Kyosho

I have numerous others that I just don't have the space to display, then there are the 5 1/12 scale Ferraris and the Murcielago, F1, XJ220, Viper etc.

    Lamborghinis are my passion though!

That is a very elaborate display case, Did you have the glass etched or is it just a decal?

Will the Super Elite FXX fit on one of the shelves if it is still attached to the carbon fibre base?

Damn.. nice cases. Are they set into the wall? Looks that way from the pictures. Ikea? I have some freestanding ones but love the footprint of the ones in your photos.. You have the Ikea "name" for the cases?

    Thanks- Todd

    Thanks for all your comments!

To answer some of your questions....

They are called 'Bertby' and are from Ikea. The come with glass shelves but I have added more to fit more of my collection in. They also come with the glass door and, in the UK at least, are available in silver - I haven't painted them.

They are not recessed into the wall but protrude about 8-9 inches.

Anymore questions feel free to ask.

Thanks John - thanks to you I have finally found the perfect cabinets. $159 CAD and three colours: black/brown, silver, white/birch.

Any special considerations for wall mounting in terms of proper hardware etc? Would hate to hear a loud crash in the middle of the night.

Glad to hear it. No special considerations really, just follow Ikea's instructions and use the correct fixings if putting on a plaster bord wall (as mine is).

    Good luck
