Thank you! Here are some more...
The 288 GTO Evoluzione looks like it is falling apart. That is because it is "a project" right now. The Jouef model has extremely poor detail in the interior and engine compartments and I am trying to piece an accurate one from an F40 and a spare 288 GTO to make it more "real".As soon as I am done I will post detailed pictures...

The F40 on the picture is (was) a regular Hotwheels model which has been detailed....
The red Enzo is BBR and the FXX is an Elite that I painted the wheels on....

    Here are some vintage Ferraris......
The 3 generations of GTO's are Hotwheels, Guiloy(pretty modified to make it look decent) and Joueff (which will soon be modified to look right)...

neat idea mounting them in shadow boxes on the wall - how do you secure the models to what I assume is a stainless steel backing? using the original screws? Though I'd think that takes up more space than if you mounted them right side up. Great job!

The shadow boxes were originally memory boxes in white with padded backs so you could use pins on them.I removed the original backs and cut new ones from foam board and covered it with aluminum look self-adhesive foil (keeps the whole affair very light) and then used the original screws. It is a whole day project, but well worth it.The idea was to separate them by decades-one car from each year.I think from '49 'till now I have something like 11 cars missing-hence the empty frame.I am glad you like it.Thank you.

I also forgot to tell you guys that all the models are mint, improved or on their way to get improved and with their original boxes.I also have countless projects in various stages of completion.I used to have bunch of custom made ferraris but at one point I got tired of them and gave them to my uncle in Switzerland. He tells me that they are the center of any conversation about his collection, which unlike mine includes all kinds of makes and models.REMEMBER---
Any treasure is worthless if it is not shared!

Are the original screws long enough to go through foam board? I wish I had more wall space to do something similar. Nevertheless, great job and I am impressed.

Speaking of sharing, is there a definitive site that documents or lists the largest Ferrari mobilia collections? Kind of like what I do for my primary collection?

I don't know. All I know is that one of the biggest collections is in Japan. There is an article in "Forza" about it.I am talking thousands of books, magazines, models, and all sorts of memorabilia, plus a real F40 F50 Enzo and few others.
By the way would someone please upload the rest of the pics I posted.Thank you.
Oh by the way the screws would be short, but they "sink" in the foam-board so at the end the space between the screw and the model ends up smaller than when mounted in the original box.

In Cavallino issue 70 the Hiramatsu model collection was described as the biggest ferrari-collection worldwide. At the time it was 15000 items, no idea how many it has nowadays. It was impressive. All scales, F1 items, books, magazines and memorabilia.
mr. Hiramatsu had a building made for this collection.
He is a tokyo real-estate developer and contributing editor for cavallino.
He also has a fantastic collection on 1/1 ferraris, F40 F50, probably an enzo a 250swb and several contemporary cars.

I read a story last year about a dutch modelshop in which a japanese tourist appeared. The shop owner asked the gentleman if he was interested in something, the man replied, no thank you i allready own everything you sell.
He introduced himself as mr. Hiramatsu, and the story was written, with foto in a dutch modelcarmagazine.

I hope mr. Hiramatsu is a member, if so, please please post some fotos we love to see them.

I think it might be 1/8 because it looks like it's beside a Pocher 1/8 Testarossa?

JOEV is correct. It is a Pocher 1:8. It is the rarest Ferrari model they ever made.It came black with the gold rims and exhaust ant intercoolers. On the box it is said that it is a copy of a one off car made in the same color combo for a german football superstar, who supposedly also has a black F50 with gold rims.
The model was a gift from my uncle in switzerland, who gave it to me with few conditions. Not to touch the original paint and wheels, and to be build by me. We also talked about adding some extra detail and I started to do so but never finished the model. The quality of the moldings is horrendous and fit and finish definitely leave a lot to be desired. However I managed to put the engine together with all the plumbing and cooling and it came out like 100000 times better than with just parts from the box.I had to scratchbuild so much parts that I grew tired of it and put it aside for some other day which is still not on the horizon. An original model like this, still not put together, and in the mint condition box and books and all will set you back in excess of $4K.
Oh and by the way I forgot to include one of my favorites with the rest of the pictures. Here it is...

Well Rob - it's been two months since the unveiling of the list and the promises of pictures. Are they coming or can I just unsubscribe from this thread and forget about it? Was there another thread with pics that I missed?

I was at Robs on Sunday, he knows he has to get them all out and photo them all so that everyone will see how many he actually does have. All I can say is - HOLY SHEITE! I'm Jealous! What a collection.

    Just be patient!

The Pics will come. Now go out and build a race track in a cornfield.

Isn't all this just a bit obsessive? Jeez, for the value of some of these mega collections, you could own a real F-car....

    :)

    ??

Don't mean to be rude, it's just so "over-the top"....
