I'm planning to change color--my '75 308 GT4 is currently yellow (looks good from 10feet but bad paint job); it appears to have been red originally. I want to consider all "factory color" options in planning the repaint as I will be taking the car down to metal.

Does anyone have a reference on where I can look at and get the numbers for the original colors offered?

There's a fab grigio metallico which was original - not sure where the colour charts might be but there is a reference thread somewhere on fchat about Ferrari colours - which interior do you have as that may affect your choice ?

Believe it or not, red was a bit rare for that model.

Really don't care what the original color was, and I am registered at the site.

What I'm looking for is a factory color chart from '75. (I've seen one online before but the link I had is dead now.)

I have the original factory color chip book for a Series I. The paint was glidden slachi eurolac. The book does have the color codes but they will NOT produce a matching color using modern paints (not even close). The only way to do this is to find a painter who can mix the paint and get it to match by eye - in other words you need a pretty skilled guy. I am attaching a couple of pics of the chip book so you can get an idea of the wide range of colors available. If you see a color you like let me know and I will get you a close up pic.

I did that and here is what I found out.

    #14628

    ext color= Oro Chiaro 106-Y-137

Int color= Pelle Nera VM 8500

What the heck is that? I need to go to a translation sight and find out. It does not sound good though.

    Cheers!

How did you register your car there?...I tried and the drop down menu doesn't include 308gt4s....I assumed that old the "Dino's not a real Ferrari" prejudice was at work here.

WOW. What a selection!!! Don't know where to start. My painter is a true expert and can match anything.

Anyone got a strong opinion on what looks best on a GT4? Any opinions on the boxer paint option?

If you don't mind me asking, in what part of California are you located? I am in San Jose and am considering a repaint on my '79 GT4...

Hi Alex, cool to see those paint chips.

Would it be possible you could take a pic of the non metalic blues? Curious of the range. And, are these all just Dino colors, or all colors?

    Light or Dark Blue metallic.

Suits the shape of the car much better than the solid colours. You should not have a problem matching any of the colours these days.

    Regards,
    Phil.

No contest! The best looking is Giallo (yellow) with the boxer trim.....just like mine coincidentally. Do some serious thinking about the boxer trim on this car. I think it looks fantastic. It makes it look sleeker and most importantly camouflages the bulky US bumpers a lot. I get tons of comments on the boxer trim. People are very impressed that it came that way from the factory.

Oooooo. That does look good. I'm intrigued by the metallic blues, though--any photos?

It is listed as: "Dino 308 GT4" as it should be! :D

I don't know if the problem still exists, but a few years ago when I registered mine, it was refused because I didn't type in the correct engine number... Turns out I had to add a specific code which I was unaware of (Hans Hansen from Oregon discovered this and passed it on to me. By-the-way, I haven't heard from Hans in ages. Hans, you out there?...).

I can't remember which series of numbers it was that worked, but these were in my notes:

    Engine Type: A000A 000

    Transaxle Type: A000AY 00

    Engine Family: F106A 040

Try that if you run into any problems with the registration process...

Dark colours and metallics are best. Copper, bronze, gold are all cool, period correct colours and certainly not common.

And add the Boxer trim! ;)

Has anyone actually seen a Gold Gt/4? I emailed the factory to see if they could tell me how many were made in that color I also asked about the rear seat deleted option, there seems to be a question about that. I was told before that the factory never did that and they were all done afterwards?

    Cheers!
