Finally got around to checking my tool kit this week. The big item I am missing is the lug wrench (I know, I can order a new one but I'd like to have that old, used patina to it to match the rest of the kit). Also a couple of screwdrivers and a wrench. Anyone have an extra set of tools they'd like to sell? Out of curiousity, did the original screwdrivers have Ferrari on them? I know the new ones (only available in the complete tool kit) do.

    Thanks,

    Joe

No they are plain plastic..unmarked, and so cheap as to be almost unusable....LOL!

I use mine only in the dark so professionals don't see them, in daylight use Craftsman or SnapOn to avoid self injury......

Tom Shaughnessy is the King of Tools look for his "pliers thread' among others......

LOL. I've used the screwdrivers to put on my plate, that was it. I PM'd Tom. He didn't have anything. Well, he had the pliers! The one thing I had.

Yeah, I mean if you want the original tools just to "complete" the car, that's one thing. But if you want some decent tools to keep in the car, do what Verell and I did and get a nice little kit from sears with decent tools.

Sears "Companion" sets are their less expensive (made in China) tools. Not my choice for the shop, but they make a nice little kit to carry in the car that comes in a nice plastic case.

    http://www.sears.com/sr/javasr/product.do?cat=Hand+Tools%2C+General+Purpose&pid=00930119000&vertical=TOOL&subcat=Home+Owner+Tool+Sets&BV_UseBVCookie=Yes

I'm not sure if the one I linked above is the same exact one I have but it looks about the same.

They often go on sale for like $30. Much more complete tool kit to have in the car.

Either the set that Birdman suggested, or this somewhat more compact set along with a packet of waterproof duct tape & a roll of electrical tape would get you thru most road emergencies:

    http://www.sears.com/sr/javasr/product.do?BV_UseBVCookie=Yes&vertical=TOOL&pid=00930070000&cat=Hand+Tools%2C+General+Purpose&subcat=Home+Owner+Tool+Sets

In either set I'd replace the fraction sockets with deep metric sockets.

I actually don't know where the 'companion' tools are made, but I haven't seen significant differences in their construction quality from the Craftsman line. Biggest difference is the $$ as the Craftsman tools come with a lifetime warranty.

BTW, the 3x8 tool sets have been selling for around $450 - $600 on eBAY!!!!

You might have better luck calling the places that part out F*s and see what they'll sell you a set for.

No, this is just to complete the set. I've got a bunch of tools for cars right now. I have a TR6 also so I am familiar with tool rolls and duct tape. I've seen those sets on Ebay. Some are obviously new sets from Ferrari UK being passed off as NOS! I've called around. Basically, I am SOL right now. I think I am going to break down and order the lug nut wrench for now. The rest I'll just keep my eyes open.

Oh, what goes in the center of the green bulb and fuse holder?

a rotor...mine says 'rotor' on the green lid.......

UKs items WERE NOS, the Factory dumped everything they had on them, at the time.........there was TONS of OEM trim items I don't think they ever got them inventoried............

A rotor? Not sure how a rotor would fit in there. I figured a different buld or a spark plug. The online parts book shows neither. I have to check the lid on mine now to see what it says!

I guess I am splitting hairs here:

NOS: New Old Stock. IE: from the early 80s. That stuff on Ebay is REAL Ferrari, but of much later production. More like OE: Original Equipment.

Yes, the rotor. It's quite small.

Verell, ALL Craftsman tools are made in China now I believe!

Only real difference in 308 vs. 328 tool rolls is the carb tool, IIRC........

You may be right in the later cars 'rotor' is not correct, 'nothing' is correct! LOL!

Well that just stinks. And I was always a Craftsman MADE IN AMERICA fan. I thought they still were made here. Maybe it is a difference between the Professional level and non Pro lines.

But anyway, got a pick of "full" green tub? Curious what was really in there.

Oh, and my QV does not have a carb tool, so it is more a 308 Carb Vs. 3x8 Injected thing. But it does have a very different window tool from what I've seen in the early cars. And one that is not listed in the parts catalog but that I have seen in other late cars.

And what the heck is "IIRC"?

Yes, a rotor. That's why the lid says "ROTOR"

And it's "sparking plug," not spark plug.

    Welcome to Ferrari ownership!

Get a new one, lay it on the road and drive over it a few times. Then leave it out on the lawn for a week or so.

Hey, it could be who made it! (Actually, turns out, mine doesn't say that)

And a wing (not a fender), and a spanner (not a wrench), and a torch (not a flashlight), and hood (not a top), and a bonnet (not a hood), and boot (not a trunk), etc. Been doing Brit Cars for YEARS. Had to learn a whole different language! :)

    Thanks!

Just checked mine this morning. Does not say rotor on the lid or tub. Could that be a carb car thing?

Could be, Joe. The owner's manual does not include the rotor as a spare kept in the container. I suppose one can carry a spare rotor in there if so inclined.

The parts catalog for my car lists its contents:
