Curiously, has anyone seen any dyno sheets on the 3.5? There's a picture of it on the dyno on the website. I've been following this but perhaps I missed it.

    It should be pretty amazing!

hey there, I have met this guy. He has worked with Nick (Nicks forza ferrari in Washington) on many projects including the 308---> 355 upconversion. He has also worked on 355, 308,328, and 360 heads. I know he has worked on Viper and I think Lambo (not sure though) He is very particular and seems trustworthy. Informative web site. He also provides flow-bench numbers.

I just found this and it cracked me up! Yeah, I think I have a little more experience than Ms. Lohan, but I'd bet she has a softer touch... and I GUARANTEE that she's more expensive!! If I thought I could afford her, she be doing ALL my head work too! Wow.
    Thanks for the laugh!

For those of you guys who have not been to Mr Louthan's site, it is really well done with lots of great info. I just spent some time there and learned a lot. I may be wrong, but I think this porting thing in general is going to take off. More power as well as uprated more reliable internals.

His site makes me want to fast forward my timetable for my next major so I can yank the heads, send them off for porting, new valves, and more power!

(But all I really need is to lose the Sodium exhaust valves!)

I talked to Rob via e-mail about pricing on this. Rob, do you mind if I post the prices you quoted me? I asked around and all agreed that they seemed pretty reasonable.

I really like the different stages of tune he offers as well - you can either have a weenie or the whole hog. As I was looking at his flow bench numbers, he had not posted any numbers yet on the 308 heads. That would also be very interesting to see.

You bet! I haven't listed any prices on the site because there are so many models, so many different engines, so many different options, etc. etc... but I have no secrets... post away! :)

I asked about having some head work done at the next major when I would like to replace the sodium valves and this is the response:

Normally what I do on these is new valves, guides, seals and sometimes
springs. Then they get ported which should gain 20-30 H.P. You're looking
at $3000-$3500 for the package. I would need the heads for 3-4 weeks, and
because I don't normally keep these valves in stock and they are custom
built, we can order them in advance when you decide to do the job so they're
here when your heads get here.
I hope that answers your questions, let me know if I can help you.

I thought it sounded pretty reasonable. I mean $3K is a lot of coin for a valve job, but if I get 30 HP, that is serious!

Agreed! Bordman, if you want to coordinate things this spring... Wish he was closer than Oregon, as frankly i have been considering having some major 308 engine work done. Getting her there and back will be around $2k :(

Maybe we can get a 2-car discount? You game?

Steve, don't forget your's is a 4v, it will probably cost a bit more than a 2v that posted.

Also don't forget you have that nasty CIS system plugging up the flow and the FI intake isn't very good either Converting to EFI or carbs will gain you 20-30 hp, if you add porting an a new intake you should gain close to 100hp

I'm currently having my QV heads done at a shop run by a buddy of mine for those who haven't seent the thread and the numbers are looking great!

    Steve,
The price he gave Birdman assumes the heads are pulled & shipped to him. ie: Pulling/reinstalling the heads is additional...

Ahh yes, of course you are right my friend. Verell, in a month or so let us setup a day to check valve clearances in my car, as maybe that is all that is needed (i hope). Once we are sure things are fine it will be supercharger time :)

OK I have been lurking here reading this. It sounds very exciting. Just to be clear are we saying that if I have my heads ported (77 308) and no other changes I am looking at an extra 20-30 hp. Add in an electromotive, some jetting, maybe a bit of dyno time and we are looking at 275hp plus. Say with labour, gaskets, full service etc it can be done for about 6-7k? the next step would be then going to different cams bringing it up to say 285-290hp for another 2k.

My ideal 308 is a reliable 300hp and getting the weight under 3000lbs with fuel. Sounds like it may be doable without having to go and open up the engine to add Euro pistons etc?
