    Hello All,

Looking to go on a trip this summer (Beginning of June) with the girlfriend. Looking the following:

    - Cabo
    - Cancun
    - Caribbean

Cabo has some nice resorts (Pueblo Bonito, ME) as does Cancun. Cancun is the last on my list because it seems to much like a party area. Caribbean looks amazing! The water is crystal clear which amazes me.

If I do pick the Caribbean, anyone have any suggestions on hotels/locations? It's a long flight from San Diego, sadly.

    Thanks!

    More info please...

What kind of trip are you looking for? Beach, resort, all-inclusive, water activities, jungle. Do you plan to fish or dive. Do you need someone to bring you a drink while you lounge in your beach chair, or are you ok fetching your own libation?

I just got back from southern Belize, and it is considered Caribbean. 2.5 hours from Houston. You can find rooms from $35 a night to $2500. If your girl is a princess, she may not like some of the rustic feature in the south. If you two want some privacy and don't mind a little local culture, it may be a good fit.

Francis Ford Coppola owns a resort in Placencia, Belize called the Turtle Inn. You get all the privacy of southern Belize and the luxury of a first class resort.

In contrast, we stayed in the village of Placencia in a cabana yards from the beach for $80 a night. Minus airfair, a seven day vacation for two was about $1500 for everything including food, booze and recreation.

Mayan ruins and deep jungle are 30 minutes west. There is mucho diving, but I should tell you hurricane Iris in 2001 busted a good bit of the reef. In town there is a harbor and bay. Dolphin are common and manatee are a short paddle away in the mangrove.

i'll tell you what, there's nothing wrong with a caribbean cruise. i've been on two of them, and it's just as fun if not better than being stuck at one resort. but, i would also push for punta cana, dominican republic or costa rica. great places to go visit as well.
