John, you should paint flames onto the DTM, and a unicorn onto the Enzo....
OK, as of this morning, EUROPEAN CAR Editor Les Bidrawn has stated to me that the magazine will rent Willow Springs for the day, exclusively for the DTM and the Enzo, and do a complete magazine feature on the testing of both cars through their entire paces: Zero to Sixty, lapping the big course etc. John e-mail me at [email protected] and we can set this up in short order and we can all read about the results. BTW, he asked me if I was aware that the DTM was almost 900lbs heavier than the Enzo. I said indeed I was. Joe
Please let me know when this is going to happen once you know! I will totally fly down for this, it would be awesome to see!
-------------------------------------------------- Its all up to John my freind. My work here is done. Joe
Agreed the Enzo SHOULD be faster. Thats been my ONLY point on this thread. You say 2 to 3/10ths (fair enough), the testers say 7/10ths to a full second (at some speeds thats the length of a football feild!). Whatever it is, if a DTM is 'smoking' an Enzo regularly, perhaps the Enzo's driver was 'relaxing'? Or the Enzo might not be operating at proper performance? Bottom line is, if I owned an Enzo that was slower than a DTM (a car with less bhp and weighing 900lbs more!), Id have the Enzo checked out. Joe
John has proven to be a man of his word and towards our collective entertainment he has offered his DTM and Enzo to Les Bidrawn/European Car for a comprehensive track test. As I post, the two parties have been put in contact towards making this mega-test happen. We can all only be happy when fast cars are stretching their legs on the safety of the track rather than on the road with its inherent liability. A few Caveats per European Car for the test to have any merit: - Both cars will be driven by the same Professional Driver supplied by EC. - Acceleration tests and full course lapping for time will be performed and electronically timed. - Willow is unmercifully hard on brakes, and both cars need to be ensured to be operating at full capacity so John youll want to have them both checked over prior. If either car is underperforming for any reason, the test is meaningless. Either way, this will be a fun event. Details when they come available. Joe
Keep us posted. Pictures, videos,...etc. Enjoy the event and good luck to all. It doesn't matter which car is faster, they are both the super cars of each's league.
Excellent Thread. I guss I'll have to subscribe to European Car. Is the Enzo still at Lotus of Scottsdale? Good show guys! Perhaps it's time to start another thread for this?
It currently travels around every sunday in Southern California almost along with a DTM, and other countless Exotics due to a Racing Team contract. Happy hunting!
John, Here is one to consider....is it any different then yours? $300K http://www.romansinternational.co.uk/car.asp?id=351
John, what an amazing offer to let your cars be tested like that. I would not dare let anybody push my car that hard. I have spun it up a couple of times at different times driving it but all in all I am pretty easy on the car. Are you Eric's friend that was looking for the CLK-GTR?
The track is available, the magazine is enquiring, the professional drivers have been put on notice...... John, whats the holdup? Joe
