Looks like I'll pick up the Black Solstice this week. Who else has gone from an exotic to a non-exotic and enjoyed their decision? I think this little car will be a lot of fun!

It's a Pontiac PAP. Same chassis as the Saturn Sky. They're neat little cars. I drove one of my friend's Solstice and was surprised. There are quite a few mods available to really get some decent performance out of them.

For a little bit more, I would probably lean towards getting an Elise.

I think a few people here have gone from an exotic back to a Porsche or NSX for the improved reliability, but you'll have to let us know about the Solstice. You're obviously getting a car you can flog without worrying about repair bills, and something lower profile.

I've been a fan of the BMW M Roadsters (Z3-based) for the same reason. And there are times when I drive something newer and think about how much easier to drive it is compared to my 328.

But then I get back in the 328 and it all comes back to me. The engine sound, the gated shifter, the celebrity status when you park - there really is no substitute.

    My two lira...

anyone seen the chuck mallett solstice? he managed to wedge an LS7 engine in there (think Z06) and that little car with 500 Horsepower is a serious ferrari-killer. i got to drive one and it was one of the scariest rides of my life. it really felt like a shelby cobra for today

I was tempted by a Solstice for a kinder, gentler (but still fun) daily driver. Then saw a 360 driving down the road and now I have a 355...

Of course if you go for the Solstice you need the turbo version...

WTF!!! Someone call 911!!! Someone has lost their mind!!!

If you wanted to do something like that I would have happily traded my wifes pontiac fiero for the 348, no problem! A true classic indeed and 25mpg to boot!!!

I'm sure it will be a fun car to drive, but good grief.

"...something lower profile." Lower but not low, that car attracts attention. It is a fun car even without the turbo.

Yep. And there are turbo and supercharger kits available to boost it to something like 300HP.

Probably just as fun as a Lotus Elise, but with 10 times more flex than one. :D:D

Actually just saw a nice SCCA (Sports Car Club of America, translated for PAP :) ) prepped Solstice in the Detroit airport today; had all the racing bits including an optional hard top which I think the display said is only available through some special order SCCA program (not just a dealer install option).
