my mother is a pediatrician with her own practice and isn't into sports cars [or cars in general] all that much. she currently has an S500, and may be moving into her first porsche after that lease is up.

one of her friends, an ENT, has an H1, a 360, and a 355. I think his DD is an S500 or S430.

and you're right, I havent seen any doctors with M5s or M3s....usually just a high end large sedan, like the 745/750 or the S-class mercedes.

Pediatric Dentist-5th F Car. There are more of us that own them than you think. I used my 360 as an everyday car-it was black, no one seemed to notice. I rarely drive my 328 to work- red, everyone ( staff) seems to comment and wants a raise.

    Most doc's don't have flashy cars...go figure.

Many doc's make good money, but spend (waste) it all on intangibles with no resale value.

I still remember buying my testarossa at LFSC. The sales guy told me I was the first internist he had ever sold a ferrari to. Surgeons, orthpods, neursurgeons...no problem. To an internist...never :).

But, I would never drive it work - thats financial and legal suicide.

Would you park a Ferrari on a hospital parking lot? I wouldn't either.

    Nice :)

it probably comes down to the fact that (most) doctors aren't very interested in cars, and sort of go with what everyone else has to fit in. I'm sure most know what a Ferrari is, but don't know much about them...just like most know what a BMW is, but don't know anything about the M models.

I know of a denist who had a Diablo 6.0, yellow 360 spider, and a sliver 360 spider and the same time. He sold the sliver 360 and diablo and bought a murcialago. Sold all of his cars and bought a house. Now he has a white continental GT and a red Gallardo.

I'm an internist, I have a 360 and I drive it to my office and the hospital. I know an anesthesiologist and an ENT who do the same. kev360 on this board is an orthopedic surgeon, he just sold his 360 and has a blue Diablo.

Most of the docs I know are very into cars, just many of them don't seem to get Ferraris.

The plastic surgeon I drive by almost daily has a myriad of cars. Normally a Murcielago, but I've seen a Viper, 997 GT3, SL55 AMG, and the other day an Elise. Bastard :D

well for one, one of my docs here drives a lexus SC430 and "thinks" it is the most luxiurious awesome hard top convertible around, even against an SL, I swayed away from that conversation though...

He is also a so called "latest and greatest" guy in terms of technology, he has his house run with fiber cable to all the TV's, custom built, all screens on the wall, latest phone/gadgets, and so on...wastes all the money on the latest stuff and we all know there will be bugs and quirks...then they wonder and get pissed when stuff doesnt work....

When my father was in the hospital here last month, I visited him every day and there were always some nices cars parked out front in the doctor reserved lots. Remember a white Gallardo, a DB9 and a 997 turbo amongst others
Also seen a 360 spider and F430 spider regularly in doctors lots in a shopping centre carpark here. Also believe a reknowned surgeon here is the head of the Ferrari club of Singapore

I'm a radiologist in the US Army and will be a Ferrari owner when I get back from Iraq. I re-read the first post, and I think there is a misconception about docs. The average doc doesn't make as much as some people think, and most have HUGE loans to pay back. It's one of the reasons I'm glad the Army paid for all my school. My theory is that too many things get in the way. 13 years of school (4 college, 4 med school and 5 more to be a radiologist) plus a few years to get on your feet = about 40 years old. By then your kids are old enough for you to be thinking about college and your folks are getting on in years. You get the picture.

I've made owning a Ferrari a priority. It took a long term plan and a willingness to wait into my 40s to be able to afford it. Now I just need to survive 6 months in the desert and I'm in the club.

Yeah, that takes forever. Nearly two weeks of unpacking. Still have books in boxes on the floor since I haven't bought a bookshelf yet. Just hung the first picture of two boxes of pictures this morning.

We're talking about extending our lease past the summer and waiting longer to buy a house just to avoid having to move again. Maybe just stay here a year - we're not in a hurry to have all of the pains and hassles of a house (ie. repairs, yardwork)but I would like a nice garage, of course!
