I changed my 308 QV to Redline and the shift to second is much improved. Do a search, there are many threads on this subject.

Thats what I put in my 328 - 4 qts of NS & 1 Qt of 75w90 & it took the lot (after draining both the transfer case and the box). Refilled via the transfer case.

There is a small chance you might get some diff chatter with just NS but very few people report this. At the price the Redline is here (about $120 for 5 qts) I went with the 4:1 just to be sure.

So do you have to warm up the engine or drive it for awhile before draining the gear oil? Thanks

i think there is some confusion on the 'NS' designation. for street cars with a limited slip diff like the 308 you want the std. 75w90 for cars WITHOUT limited slip the 75w90NS.
    from the horses mouth..

"This GL-5-type geal oil doesn't contain the friction modifiers for limited-slip hypoid differentials..."

if you use the NS then you might want to add a modifier, but thats spending more than needed.

    and here's for the 75w90
"Our most popular gear oil, this is the preferred product in nearly all car and light truck differentials, both conventional and limited-slip. 75W90 is preferred for most racing applications. It contains friction modifier which is recommended for limited-slip units. 75W90 Gear Oil can be used in many transmissions and transaxles; however, other Red Line lubricants have better frictional properties for rapid synchronization. Exceeds API GL-5."

i've been using it for over 5k of heavy HP use, all gears work smooth as silk and even when cold. I do wonder how many shifter shafts are just out of alignment as well.

oH and then you have the MTL, I used that first when i got the mondial. worked a bit better than the 75w90. I'll use either depending on whats available.

We and a great many other shops have been using the NS for years with ZERO complaints of posi chatter. It was done on Redlines recomendation due to the posi additive allowing some degradation in syncro operation especially when cold.

Every car I have, Ferrari or not has a positraction rear and they are all running NS without problem.

Okay, I was just addressing the question on what 'NS' stands for. i've never used the NS. I did find that the MTL worked better for the notchy issue than the gear oil. the 70x90 works great but when cold the trans is a bit stiffer.

I agree, in the non hypoid cars I have used MTL and its great. It is a GL 4 so would probably be OK in the hypoid cars in light duty but I am not going to perform that experiment.

Bugger ... as I suspected, it's not so easy to find here in Ottawa. Do any of the Ontario F-Chatters have a good source within the province?
