I am glad I am not the ONLY one that thinks the statement in the letter of

    "Zero fatalities 2030"

Is not only impossible to achieve, nut DOWN right STUPID comment!!

Unless we all will by on bicycles by then???

HOW many deaths or serous injuries in the US and IN Washington State ALONE last year due to "Police" cars responding to calls, chasing a speeder or just bad driving habits by the Patrol Vehicle operator???

WHAT about the WSP TROOPER that Hit and killed the pedestrian in Mill Creek on Bothel Everett Hwy a few years back...THAT was found "not at fault" he crossed in a un-marked, un lighted area......

would love to KNOW if that one was "marked" down as "speed related"???

I seriously doubt it, if they had the parents would own the State by now, instead of still in court trying to fight it...

You're way out of line here. I sure as hell dont want a car going 10 mph to broadside a ... bicyclist going 20 in the middle of the damn road ringing their bell at the pedestrians to get the hell out of the way, ding ding. I mean, imagine the dent in my car!

Besides, someone is bound to have a heart attack and die while driving.

Something I just thought of. When they used the tractor to clock people did they post it as a work zone? If they did they could have charged them double!!

Obviously the three "E"'s are not working too well. See the other thread about the cable barriers failing again? So much for "engineering"!

Paul I agree with you 100%. What you are saying is directly reflected in the bullets from the WA DOT site that I included in my letters:

According to our own Washington State Department of Transportation, speed limits should be set using the following concepts:
    • The majority of motorists drive in a safe and reasonable manner
    • The normally careful and competent actions of a reasonable person should be considered to be legal
    • Laws are established for the protection of the public and the regulation of unreasonable behavior of a few individuals
    • Laws cannot be effectively enforced without the consent and voluntary compliance of the majority

This was literally cut and pasted right from the DOT website!

The problem you have with this John is that you are assuming a logical response. NOT happening with gov. types. The first thing they will tell you is that the majority does the posted speed limit. NOT.

Just think of the revenue if the WSP mounted the “Work Zone” signs to their cars, oh that’s right this is about safety not about revenue. Speaking of revenue, where does it all go, I am sure the Government’s number one concern center around the continued safety of the public and are using 100% of the funds for safe driver programs, right?
