As someone mentioned earlier, if you are going to restore, but the correct 308 engine in it. The car will difficult as hell to sell if it has anything other than a ferrari powerplant in it. And yes, many many people say "I'll never sell it"...and then at some they decide to. Plan ahead...

It has to have a Ferrari engine. The engine is the bit that makes it a Ferrari. Pininfarina build/design bodies. They do that for Peugeot amongst others :D. Same goes for Bertone!

I don't know what kind of time and resources you have but you do have a great opportunity to build a real nice and correctly done 308. swap over the missing bits from the salvaged car, never been a fan of 'chopping' and if you get caught, well....this is CA the car nazi state!

your not far from stripping the rest of the car and doing the subframe assy and body right. besides the subframe will need to come out to get the drivetrain and rest in anyways. it'll be ALOT of work, just look and Jons' project on the Dino! WOW!!

I know values aren't there just yet, but your sitting on the restoration fence, which way to fall ;)

that sure will be one FUN project, keep us posted, we'll get the popcorn going.

I agree, I think it will be better to swap everything over. Plus I prefer the GTB body. Wish me luck, I'll be talking to Matt tomorrow...hopefully we can work out a deal and i'll get this thing together correctly.

smg2 can help you get that injected engine 'up to speed'....LOL!

Scott I was proposing he use the later car to rebuild his VIN, as you suggest, scrapping the Salvage title...

Direct throttle body injection, state of the art engine management.......

    Craig,
What state do you want to registure that car in?

What you need is the Ferrari toolkit, to make that car complete. (wink)

gotcha! still the one bugger in CA is smog, the clock stopped at 1976. injection is reliable, but down on power unless one adds boost or overhauls the management. the cheapest route is carbs, great sound and good power when mated to a later quattro engine, just ask Russ ;)

What kind of shape is this in and where's it located? How much are you looking to sell it for?

It needs paint but I do have a full set of decals for it. Just got it together...new head, belts, upper gaskets, roller cam,3" swingvalve,MP computer. It runs great but needs a clutch. I'm in Northern California, I bought it from the original owner 6-7 months ago and it's never left CA, no cancer, just some surface rust from where the paint has peeled. I'm not sure what I wnt to get for it, honestly this is the last car I would sell out of the lot but money talks!
